School Value for Term 2
Pono/Integrity
Kia ora whanau,
It was a pleasure on Monday to see the laughter and joy on the children's faces as we opened the school after 7 weeks in lockdown. It has been a long time for everyone and staff have spent the last few days reconnecting with their students and re-establishing class routines. A warm welcome to all our new families who have joined us under these extraordinary circumstances and we wish everyone a happy start to school. Unfortunately, our powhiri to welcome new families has had to be cancelled under the Level 2 guidelines.

Our attendance rate is averaging 92% which is above average for this time of the year and I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation as we operate the school under the Level 2 guidelines. Our current practices are working well with lots of hand hygiene and distancing where possible. The drop-offs and pickups in the afternoon are busy but all appears to be working well as everyone adjusts to the new normal.  Thank you once again.

We welcome Mrs. Merieke Theunissen to our school this term.  Mrs. Theunissen has started the new entrant class and will be teaching in Room 19.  We trust that her association with our school will be a long and happy one.

Please be reminded that if your child is displaying any of the following symptoms (high temperature, coughing, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, and shortness of breath) please keep them at home.

Creative Matters will not be running our after school art classes at Waimauku School this term but they have an amazing online option - a term long course for children aged 6 - 13 which teaches visual arts skills and encourages creative thinking.

It's very much structured in the same way as their popular after school classes, with instructional teaching videos presented by Mandy (CEO), and fun art projects that can be completed independently.

Creative Matters looks forward to being able to provide face-face lessons again in term 3. Click the link for more info, a free preview or to subscribe for only $97.

Marrzipan Drama is running a special DISCOUNTED short term for the rest of term 2! Students will get to explore different scripts, choose their favourite, audition and be cast as a character, and then record a MOVIE TRAILER for the play. A digital copy will be sent to parents so you can celebrate your child’s achievements by watching it at home with them.

Marrzipan Drama is a safe space where children are encouraged to learn at their own pace and come out of their shell when they are ready, with the guidance of our wonderful, fun and supportive Marrzipan teachers.
