Dear Reader, I thought I'd share this selfie (featuring The Empress and The Devil embroideries by the ever talented Marley Myles) that I took from the tarot nook in my living room. It is here that I have been doing tarot readings via phone, video chat & email during the pandemic lockdown, since the end of March. I haven't yet set a return date for face to face readings in my beloved Newtown office, but it may well be before the next newsletter comes out.

If you would like me to notify you when I've set a date for returning to my office, please contact me at sarahthepsychic[at]gmail[dot]com . I will be also be announcing it on social media and my website.

I have been really enjoying tucking myself into the corner of my living room and doing remote readings. I've been connecting with first time clients this way, as well as reconnecting with people I've only read for in person previously. Some people have always lived in a different city, state or country to me, so this way of connecting with me is not unusual for them. Many locals have found that they've enjoyed the convenience of having a tarot reading without having to leave their home.

When I do return to in-person readings, there will be some slight changes, to ensure your health and safety, as well as my own. We will be sitting a little bit further apart than usual, and only I will handle the cards (tarot cards don't hold up well to soap and water or sanitiser!). Even if you usually like to be 'hands on' with the cards, I can assure you that you holding them doesn't make any difference to the reading. Your energy arrives with you, and you don't need to touch the cards in order to affect the reading. You will still have control over how the cards fall however, by telling me when to stop shuffling. This is how I do it for phone and video chat readings, and it works beautifully.

There are lots of superstitions, beliefs and speculations that people can have about the tarot, and I have long been in favour of disconnecting from the myths and just dealing with the very real experience of connecting with the person in front of me, with the cards as a catalyst for weaving a meaningful and relevant story of and for your life.

My work hours will also be changing. For a long time I've had a very definite structured schedule, but I've found while working through the lockdown that I've enjoyed being open to more flexibility.  Although I will still keep the same core structure to my week, I will also be available for tarot readings on a more flexible basis.

I hope that this time has allowed you to consider how you might want to structure or restructure your life. I am in a very privileged position to have my own business and my own office space so I am able to set my own hours. This may not be the case for you, but whatever situation you are in, I hope that you can find more balance.

Read on for the Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Fool

Tarot Card of the Month ~ The Fool
For those who are reading this newsletter for the first time, every month I discuss the tarot card that has appeared the most in the month's tarot readings. Even though the cards will always have individual significance, a commonly occurring card can also have a say about what's going on for the whole community.

I haven't been surprised to see The Fool landing on my tarot table again and again this month. As lockdown restrictions start to lift, it is very much a Fool time as we step into the next stage of the process. Will there be a second wave of COVID-19? Will we stay safe and healthy? Traditionally, the Fool doesn't think too much: as the first tarot card off the rank, they are there to start the next part of the story, and then after the Fool takes that first step, we see what happens next.

This time we are having with the Fool could be experienced in several different ways. Are we needing a bit of 'beginners mind' in order to break through any fear of re-socialisation? Do we need to become more curious about how ongoing changes might require us to imagine a new way of being? Isn't it time for a new approach? Can we move forward without letting past experiences define our outlook on life?

Are we able to approach a new day as if we aren't fatigued and over it? Or is being jaded what keeps us grounded and more realistic? Keep in mind though, that at the moment of decision, the Fool forgets everything that came before and is totally present. In that new moment, new worlds can open.

Now to hear from four Fool cards from my personal tarot collection:

The Fledgling from the Slow Holler Tarot Deck says, "Prepare well, just in case the journey is longer than expected. Focus your attention on what is in front of you and let those details inform you, rather than other people's desires."

The Fool from Tarot 22 says, "If you're nervous about stepping out into the unknown, just remember that deep down everyone is a bit weird, and the sooner you embrace that the more confident you will feel."

The Fool from the Kali Tarot Prayer Cards says, "The journey may be long and full of unknowns, and at times you may even lose faith in humanity. But make sure you at least maintain faith in yourself and your own endurance. Seek a new way of living that welcomes your heart rather than destroying it."

The Fool from Women of Science Tarot says, "You gotta start somewhere, and it may as well be here. The outcome isn't what's important, it's the experience of being alive. New beginnings can be shocking, but can also inspire you to be full of wonder at the opportunity that beckons."

Until next month,
Best wishes,
Sarah Barry (Psychic Sarah)

P.S Want more tarot stories? I post a Tarot Reading for the Collective on my website every month. This month I used the Tarot of the World in Colours by Eugene Vinitski.

This month's questions are:

Where do we need to hold our ground?

What have we done well?

What needs closer attention?

What can we feel quietly confident about?

Read on for the responses, and please let me know how you experienced this reading - I appreciate the feedback.

[I usually post the Tarot Reading for the Collective in the first half of every month, sometimes later... but it does happen every month!]

I have been making and selling my Queen of Cups Chai since December 2013. I select, grind and blend the spices, and package every packet of chai, with love! Queen of Cups Chai is a rich & spicy full-flavoured blend, once proclaimed upon first sip (by a previous non-tea drinker) to be "better than a gin & tonic!"
You can have a pot of Queen of Cups Chai at Petty Cash Cafe in Marrickville & Brothers Ben Cafe in Petersham (both are EXCELLENT cafes, you should definitely check them out). COVID-19 update: both these cafe's are open for takeaway with limited hours. Check their Facebook & Instagram pages for details.
You can buy the 220g packets to make chai at home from Petty Cash Cafe & Brothers Ben Cafe, or you can order online at queenofcupschai.com
Chai is a constant in my life (along with tarot) and I hope to share it with you!
