PRESIDENT'S PIECE
Hello fellows Pony clubbers
The world has been consumed by COVID-19 for many months effecting us all. I thank you for your patience and understanding. I congratulate clubs/zones who have been proactive and have been keeping members interested in inventive ways. For some I am sure it has been a well-earned break from Pony Club activities.
With Stage 2 from 1st June we see an increase in numbers allowed, clubs please note you will be required to fill in the COVID-19 safe plan online and have a copy at your activities so if SAPOL or other officials come calling you can show them.  Also download and fill in the contract tracing record-attendance at public activities, see memo sent to clubs and posted on web page and Facebook
I urge all clubs to ensure they follow all the guidelines and keep up the social distancing, hand washing and cleaning of surfaces. $5,000 fine for bucking the system.
Our State ODE championship has been postponed until 19/20 June 2021. The State Championship has also been postponed until 2021, Due to Nationals the State Championship will be mid-late April 2021. State ODE competition 11/12 September 2021.  All National and International competitions have been cancelled for 2020 due to COVID-19.
Two SA teams took part in the 10,000 steps competition, 31 teams entered this competition from around Australia. Congratulations to Two Wells Pony Club on coming second, LeHunte Pony Club came 16th.
PCA AGM was held on 9th May and the 4 people voted on to the board were Jacob McLoughlin, Mark Bradley, Juliet Skinner and Marylou Hodges.
Remember we are doing a major overhaul of the saddlery section of the rule book in 2020. You will see some proposals coming through soon for your consideration. It is a chance to have a say on what we allow, but remember these change will come in to effect from 1st Jan 2021 unless stated otherwise. The General meeting I have planned for 27th June 2020 may need to be rescheduled.
We had volunteer week in May. PCASA has many wonderful parents and volunteers, thank you to everyone who helps out in some way.
Working with Children checks (WWCC): All members who interact with children need to get their WWCC done. Your current National police check is good until 30th June 2020, your DCSI check is OK until it runs out but it is advisable to apply for your WWCC now. So if you haven’t done your WWCC yet please do so ASAP it is free for volunteers, lasts 5 years and is a legal requirement. If you have done one please ensure your club and the State office have a record of it. All visiting coaches must show your club their WWCC so you can be sure they have one.
Hope to see you out and about in 2020
Happy Riding

PONY CLUB DEVELOPS RIDERS!
Not that this comes as a surprise to those of us who have been involved in Pony Club - but a recent report released from the NSW Premier's Department did include some words that acknowledged this officially - thanks to Greg Bailey for unearthing this and sending it through to share!
Jade and Bubbles from Sunnybrae Pony Club
Top Pic shows Jade and Bubbles from Sunnybrae Pony Club in the Foreground and Gemma and Sid in the background at their first rally back - and bottom picture shows Northern Hills Pony Club riders being very responsible and demonstrating social distancing at their first Rally Back!
THOSE WERE THE DAYS
On the 11th August 1985, West Wind Woodville Pony Club hosted the Cheltenham Spectacular on the former Cheltenham Racecourse site. Click the box below to see the programme - it's a bit of a trip down memory lane.

NORTHERN HILLS RETURN RALLY
1st Rally back Sunday 17/5/20
- Grounds were perfect to ride on, gorgeous sunny day after a rather frosty start to the day.   Lots of smiles and all the horses behaved and worked really well, (think they enjoyed being back too.) Great to see everyone that could make it and whilst challenging, adhering to social distancing and Covid rules didn’t put a damper on anything!   Martin Hilton has his 2nd rally on Alfie and he has improved a lot since last time.  Beck had her first ride on Mal at club with other horses working around her and he coped so well.
Massive smiles.

MOUNTAIN MEMBERS MATTERED DURING COVID
Mountain Pony Club worked hard to keep their members connected during the Iso period of Covid-19.  Click the link below to see their Club newsletter - lovely look at what everyone was up to (love painting jump poles!)  ..

PEGASUS WENT ONLINE DURING COVID
Pegasus Pony Club kept members engaged during COVID 19 isolation by running a small Dressage Competition by Video. This allowed Pegasus and other PCASA members to ride their horses with purpose and have fun. Participants could either ride at their agistment centre or on club grounds by arrangement. We set up an arena on the grounds for 3 weeks to allow members to use at their own time and weather permitting.  5 riders took the club option and 6 riders rode at other venues. Some riders took the opportunity to plait up their horses and make them feel special. Thank you to Steve Brewster for viewing video's and judging!
