Dear Sisters and Brothers of Community Church! Pastor Greg here. It’s Wednesday and Sunday’s coming…and soon I pray many of us will be able to gather together in worship at 10376 Felch! I talked with someone some time ago that shared their service never ends with a benediction! I can’t imagine that, as the benediction brings God’s blessing from God’s Word to you. Your pastors hold this part of our worship as a critical component to the ministry of the church!
Take a look at this benediction of Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17: “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.”
There are 4 things to notice about this prayer of blessing. It tells you something about Jesus, something about God the Father, something God has already given you, and something you need. That is what Paul is praying for God to give you! This speaks of the doctrine of the Trinity with Jesus, not merely a good man or great teacher, but the very Son of God and God of God being one with the Father. Our Christian faith can be summarized with the truth of the Trinity: we come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, by the help of the Holy Spirit and these three are one God!
It’s all about God’s amazing grace…”For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Paul prays God’s blessing of heart encouragement on you and I think we can all say we need these words today! Encouragement for living out a life in Christ as we face the daily challenges of this life; and this is what God made us to do and be. Blessings, Pastor Greg.
