Reopening June 1st

We are looking forward to reopening to the public on Monday, June 1st. Staff are busy preparing the branches to welcome you safely back to your library.

For the safety of our staff and library patrons, access and services will be limited in some ways, and new procedures for visits will be in place. The changes listed below will be in effect at the Asbury, Epworth, Farley, and Holy Cross Branches. Northeast Iowa Community College should be consulted for information about the reopening of the NICC/Peosta Branch.

Hours will be temporarily reduced at some branches, allowing for more frequent cleaning.

A variety of measures which are designed to reduce contact, especially prolonged contact, with library staff and other members of the public will be in place.

  • Library staff will wear gloves and fabric masks.
  • Library visitors will be asked to wear masks, and some may be provided to visitors without their own.
  • Plexiglass screens have been installed at service desks.
  • Staff can be consulted at the service desk, but will not assist visitors at the computers or in the shelves.
  • The number of patrons allowed in the library at one time will be limited to
    • 10 at Asbury
    • 6 at Epworth and Farley
    • 2 at Holy Cross
  • Library users will be asked to complete all of their library business in one hour.
  • The number of computers and chairs available will be reduced to facilitate social distancing.

Curbside holds pickup will be available at the Asbury, Epworth, Farley, and Holy Cross locations during open hours. This process will allow holds pickup without requiring any contact between patrons and staff. When patrons receive notice that their holds will soon be available, they will be asked to call their pick-up location to make an appointment to pick up holds. At the time of their appointment, patrons will park in the indicated location and call the library. Staff will then check out the materials and place them on a table outside the library at Asbury and Epworth or in the vestibule at Farley and Holy Cross. Once the staff member returns inside the library, the patron may collect their holds, and return materials to the exterior book drop.

The library is also accepting returns of materials in the exterior book drops at the Asbury, Epworth, Farley, and Holy Cross branches. If the book drops are full, return items on another day. Chromebooks and hotspots may not be returned in the book drops. Keep these items until the library reopens and return to the circulation desk.

If you have any questions, please give us a call at the Asbury branch before June 1st or any of our branches on or after June 1st, or email us anytime at library@dubcolib.org

We look forward to seeing you soon!
