Adopt-A-Park Tree Planting & Clean Up

Rollans Park, Ridgway

Volunteer in small work groups with UWP at Rollans Park in Ridgway. This is a great way to appreciate the outdoors and get some community service in your schedule!

We are seeking a handful of people (or two handfuls at the most) to help:
  1. plant a few tree seedlings on both sides of the Uncompahgre River between May 30 and June 5 (date to be determined based on volunteer schedules),
  2. water the newly planted trees once or twice a week all summer (each volunteer only has to commit to once or twice a month),
  3. pick up litter and branches throughout the park along the Uncompahgre River on Saturday, June 13, 9 a.m. to noon.
This year's Rollans Park activities are supported by the Town of Ridgway, Ouray Trails Group, and American Rivers National River Cleanup.

2020 (Online) San Juan Mining & Reclamation Conference – Presenters Needed

This year, inspired by our current evolving situation in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, we invite prospective presenters to look at “Adaptive Capacity in Uncertain Times”. We understand the challenges associated with an online format and we also embrace the opportunities to try new ways of sharing. Therefore, our goal is to present a highly interactive experience that allows for opportunities to engage with presenters, peers, and exhibitors. With multiple short sessions between Sept. 21 and 24, we will continue to adjust the schedule as we learn more about the pandemic.

Learn more about the conference theme and proposed sessions: 2020 SJMRC Call for Abstracts

Submit an Abstract by June 15.

Ridgway RiverFest cancelled in 2020

The board and staff of the Uncompahgre Watershed Partnership made the difficult decision in March to cancel the 2020 Ridgway RiverFest, held annually in June. For more details, see the RiverFest Blog.

Besides being a celebration and a great way to educate the community and visitors about watershed health, RiverFest is UWP's largest fundraiser of the year. Since we are not raising funds through sponsorship donations this year, we will appreciate if those who are able can donate any amount through PayPal in May or June to help UWP keep our watershed protection and improvement activities going strong.

We hope you can get out with your family members this June and have fun recreating (safely) on the Uncompahgre River!
