It's been a busy month here at Breakthrough!
In a world currently experiencing high levels of trauma, charities like ours are where people turn to for support and guidance.
Here's a little update about what we've been up to this month, and what's coming up in June!

Last week Breakthrough, and our CEO Giles Lascelle, featured on 3 radio shows!
BA1 Radio featured us in their 'Daily Good' series on those making a difference.
Heart FM West spoke with Giles about the government lifting restrictions on people getting out into parks and open spaces, and why that's so important for mental health.
And Giles did a live interview on BBC Radio Somerset about Breakthrough's work, trauma, and supporting NHS staff through the pandemic - if you missed it, follow the link and skip to 2:07!

New Blog Post
It's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek this week, from 18-24th May.
This year's theme is 'kindness'.
Kindness often seems like a flimsy word, but when it comes to trauma, it's significant.
Our new blog looks at why kindness holds so much power in relation to trauma, and how it's the bridge that enables everyone not only to help survivors, but also help ourselves

Online Mental Health Training

Since moving our training online, over 250 people have taken our online courses!
Our April/May set included courses on: Anxiety, Mindfulness, Boundaries, Sleep, and Attachment (if you missed them, recordings are on our website).

For May/June we're mixing it up & have swapped our Thursday evening seminars for Saturday morning in-depth courses.

23rd May 2020 - 9:30am-1pm (UK Time) - 'Trauma & Transference'
An exploration of how power dynamics and transference impact our relationships and the ways we engage with those supporting us.

June 2020 - 'Working with Complex Trauma'
A 4-part course each Saturday morning in June offering an in-depth and highly practical exploration of trauma, and working with dissociative disorders, personality disorders, emotional dysregulation, and complex needs. This course is ideal for anyone working directly with trauma survivors.

EMERGENCY APPEAL!
There are just 25 days left in our appeal. Since lockdown, referrals to us have doubled, and all our therapy services are running over capacity.
We DESPERATELY need to raise funds to hire another therapist to join our team and help support the 100s of trauma survivors who need our help.
There's no national funding for this, so it's now to public support. Whether you can give £1 or £1000, it all helps us reach our goal in time.

That's all from us...
We have some amazing things in the pipeline for July-Sept that we can't wait to tell you about, but for that, tune in for our next update in July!

And as ever, thank you all for your support :-)
