The Men's Bible Study continues to meet during the pandemic. We meet virtually every Monday night from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.

We use Zoom for our video/audio conferencing meeting, which works on computers, tablets, and smart phones.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Tim Bolwerk at tgbolwerk@gmail.com or text at 614.937.0377 and he will send you the link to the Zoom Conference Meeting/Call by noon on Monday.

If you have any questions or technical issues connecting, please call or text Tim and he will help you out.

We are currently studying the Gospel of Luke. As of May 21, we are on the 19th and 20th chapters.

Make a Home Altar

During this pandemic, many of you have realized that your home can be a place of worship and prayer. You might want to make a home altar to help you be present… just as you would if you were worshipping in the sanctuary at Prince of Peace.

For your home altar:

Find a surface near the place where you watch our online worship services: a window sill, small table, tray, or bookshelf.

Then add some of these things:
  •          A piece of fabric, such a placemat, tablecloth or scarf. You may want to match the color of the day. May 24 is white for Easter. May 31 will be red for Pentecost.
  •          A candle to remind you that Jesus is the Light of the World. It can also symbolize the presence of the Holy Spirit. (Don’t forget to light it!)
  •          A cross. If you don’t have one at home, you can always make one out of paper or sticks.
  •          Fresh flowers if you have some, to remind you of the beauty of God’s creation.
  •          Other objects that have meaning for you: art work, a book of prayers, or your Bible.
  •          If you have children, ask them to add something that reminds them of Jesus.

Take a picture of your altar and send it to Jocelyn in the office at jalford@princeofpeacedublin.org and we’ll post it to inspire others.

Hygiene Kits

It’s time again to collect financial donations for hygiene kits that are created for the community of First English and students who participate in the summer free lunch program for Dublin schools. Because the availability of items is limited this year, we anticipate higher costs. The typical bag contains toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, body soap, hand sanitizer, combs, bandaids, feminine hygiene products.

We ask for your financial donations only – no items. The estimated cost per kit is $10.00. We hope to donate 135 kits.

To make your donation, click below. Select 'Health Fund - Hygiene Kits' in the dropdown menu. Alternatively, you may mail a check to church. Please write “Hygiene Kits” in the memo line.

We hope you will consider making a donation to this worthy cause.

A Video Greeting!

Below is our inaugural video greeting. We would like to feature video greetings from you! We invite you to take a short video message and send it to us for Sheltering in Peace. No need to dress up, no need to rehearse. Just introduce yourself and tell us how you are doing.

I can tell you that we Alfords had a hilarious time trying to get something together last night. If only I could share the outtakes with you! Kudos to Emerson Baker and the Baker family for doing a much better job than we did. Thank you to Jon Baker for this suggestion!

Just use a phone or mobile device to record. Be sure to record on landscape mode with a light source in front of you, not behind.

Send video to jalford@princeofpeacedublin.org   We hope to feature several of you next week!

Living Well

As we live out the stresses of the pandemic, we experience grief. We are individually and collectively grieving the loss of our normal lives. Some things we grieve:
  • The world has changed
  • Loss of normalcy
  • Economic toll
  • Loss of connection
  • Loss of our usual routine
If you need help sorting out these losses and emotions, please reach out to one of our pastors or professional help. Some resources for mental health assistance can be found on our website, under the While We Are Apart tab.

Be well. God loves you.
