Dear Parents,
While you and your students are currently focused on completing this unusual school year, we have been working hard to look ahead and plan for the 2020-21 school year.
C.S. Lewis Academy is planning to teach on campus starting September 9th. While the safety of our faculty, staff and students will be paramount, it will be closely followed by our dedication to provide the outstanding, quality education for which we are known. During this pandemic we have been a leader in teacher-led at-home learning. Our faculty started early on, and has maintained a commendable dedication to being flexible and creative with the goal of moving each class and each student forward. Nonetheless, there is no substitute for hands-on, in-person, CSLA-style teaching and learning, and we are excited to get back to doing what we do best. With our small class sizes and commitment to detail, we feel we are well positioned to offer a safe, superior education, on campus.
We are working hard now to develop operational plans for how we will facilitate this opening and the precautions we will need to take. We are just over 2 months in dealing with this pandemic at the school level and we seem to learn more about the virus and appropriate precautions every day. We understand we have over 3 months until we open for fall 2020, so we anticipate that we will have a lot different understanding at that time. Even so, we are planning now to create a flexible baseline to work from as we move though the next few months.
CSLA will follow all federal and state laws and regulations, then evaluate the additional guidelines from the state and multiple agencies regarding school openings to determine what is necessary at CSLA given our small class sizes and the design of our school. We will continually evaluate our procedures based on best practices so that we can keep our community healthy and provide an exceptional educational experience for our students.
We will be addressing all extra- and co-curricular activities, and we will also be completing a contingency plan in case at some point we need to pause on-campus learning.
Our first goal is to determine what we can do regarding planned summer activities. We will get that information out soon.
We will continue with updates periodically through the upcoming months. Blessings to all and stay safe.
On behalf of the C.S. Lewis Academy Board,
Clay Swanson
