Greetings!

I hope this newsletter finds you well!

It has been very hard for me to sit down and write this newsletter. I’ve been called to be in the garden and outside much of the last month. I haven’t had this much time to devote to my medicinal garden in YEARS! It has been so gratifying and grounding to be out there daily. Everything else has taken a backseat to the garden right now, online classes included.

The garden, though, looks great and I’ve been able to expand it. Over the next few days I’m putting in more elecampane, St. John’s wort, hyssop, wood betony, vervain, angelica and boneset as well as some vegetables. I’m also excited to have purchased a few hawthorn trees! Their energy is magical and brings deep connection to my ancestors with them.

Gardening often brings with it many lessons. The plants are amazing teachers, even when the lessons are hard. One of the things I’ve been able to do is to keep up with eradicating the bindweed from the garden. I came to look at this relationship with bindweed as a boundary issue. Just like people, some plants will run roughshod over you and everything else. Bindweed is wild morning glory, so she’s a vine with pretty flowers but she smothers everything. She had smothered three of my garden beds and was working on destroying the other two. I really had to put my foot down. I decided to use solarization: putting clear plastic over a garden bed to basically cook weeds, weed seeds and microbes in the top few inches of soil. It worked well and now there’s only a bit of bindweed coming up here and there. Weeding her out is completely manageable now.

OTHER NEWS…

Over the last few months I’ve been collaborating with a group of fantastic healers and herbalists. We’ve been working on a survey in order to better serve our clients. The survey is completely anonymous but you will have an opportunity to find out more about each of us and the services that we offer. Thank you in advance for your help! You’ll find that available here:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SDL7N5S

In February I was interviewed by fellow herbalist, Reiki master and flower essence practitioner, Barbara Aspland-Wolf of Garden Gate Herbals. I spoke a lot about shamanism and how I work. You can read the interview in Barbara’s April blog.

My lovely friend, Brighid Doherty, of Solidago Herb School in Maine, is offering an online class called Nourish Yourself.  This course will introduce you to using nourishing herbs in multiple ways. These herbs are one of the best ways to both connect with plants and bring your body deep nourishment. When you sign up, let Brighid know that you found out about her class through my newsletter and she’ll include a bonus of her Evergreen Medicine class notes and a video.

As always, I’m currently available for herbal consults, house/land clearing, distance energy healing or mentoring sessions via Zoom and phone.

Love and hawthorn,

Deb

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the infinite peace to you.
