I hope you all managed to find something to enjoy in the last newsletter. I enjoyed a few visits to the Chelsea flower show and some films from the Banff Mountain film festival between taking care of work related responsibilities.
Last weekend I also saw a few of you smiling waving and gesticulating as you passed the shop and I was busy cleaning and changing the window display. It was very strange being back there, keeping the door closed and being unable to have a conversation with anyone. Having spent ten weeks in near silence now I am feeling the loss of my speech more than usual, so will be glad to hear you all at some point. Thankfully that won't be too much longer, as the online shop now has an opening date of Monday June 1st. I will be offering postage as well as a click and collect option, which will be available three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesday & Saturdays 11-3pm. At the moment I won't be allocating times for collection, as I don't anticipate supermarket style queues. However I will have safety at the heart of the operation on those days. Due to the size of the shop I am only allowing one customer in at a time. Goods will be ready packed for collection and on the central table. I will be screened further away at my desk. If you arrive and someone is already in the shop please wait outside away from the door so that they can leave safely. You are all probably very used to social distancing now, but I really need to make sure we all stay safe.
Please note I am unable to add to your order when you arrive, as all transactions must take place online for the time being. I would also request that you don't touch items other than your order in the shop. There will be a poster in the window and on our pavement sign of all these details. If you wish to buy something that you know we stock but isn't yet on the website drop me an email and I will see what I can do.
I have a request from Ann, one of my customers, who is interested in 'Trapunto', which is Italian for 'to embroider'. She would like to get re acquainted with this craft which is a type of quilting and was wondering if anyone can help her or point her in the direction of some good information? If you can help let me know and I will pass on to Ann.
Apologies that this weeks list of resources is shorter than usual but I have had less time this week to spend looking for information:
Again aimed at children, but I enjoyed some of them, so perhaps the young at heart will too, the Tate Gallery have a whole series of games and puzzles on this page https://www.tate.org.uk/kids/games-quizzes
