Bar Stock

Dear Member,

As you know the club is currently closed. Our income streams are zero which has effected cash flow enormously.  We still have a number of ongoing expenses which have to be paid.  We have therefore decided to liquidate Bar Stock in an effort to stimulate cash flow. We are offering the following at cost price. It will be on a first come first served basis. Please contact 087 1953447 for further details.

Cricket Update
Statement from Cricket Ireland and Munster Cricket

The Safe Return to Play protocols being developed by Cricket Ireland - in consultation with health experts, sports authorities, players/officials and Provincial Unions - responds to the public health requirements that must be met to allow for the protection of players, coaches, match officials, administrators, volunteers and the wider community.

We hope to see a gradual resumption of cricket activity during the summer – with a phased re-introduction of training, and then hopefully competitive matches in line with government guidelines.

While we are committed to seeing cricket resume as soon as possible, it is clear from the respective Government stipulations that our existing position remains in place – that no cricket activity can resume before June 2020 at the earliest (including training).

Significant changes to the club environment – particularly with regard to safe hygiene protocols and social distancing – will be required and we will need to work with Provincial Unions on better understanding and complying with the protocol so that we can put proposals before the Government as quickly as possible without sacrificing rigour.

The NI Executive is set to release further detail tomorrow regarding a roadmap for Northern Ireland, and we shall provide updated advice later this week.

Say Thank You to our Volunteers
We have many fantastic volunteers in our club and now is your time to mention and celebrate them. Often we work in our own groups not knowing what others do within the club. If there is someone you would like to mention, send in a few words on how they make a difference to your time at Cork Harlequins (email facilities@corkharlequins.com)
This week we thank and celebrate Cork Harlequins Women's 1sts team manager, Eugenie O'Leary.

Eugenie was team manager for the Women's 1sts for 2 enjoyable years, until she announced her retirement due to family commitments. Eugenie's daughter, Emily, is a member of the Women's 1sts and obviously played a role in her mum taking on the job!

Describing her role Eugenie says

"The work I would have done would have been behind the scenes in the lead up to a game at the weekend. Liasing with the opposition managers and the umpires, organising food for travelling teams or cars and hotels for away trips and a few (more than a few) WhatsApp’s to remind the girls about their BLACK SOCKS for away games!!!!

Getting to know the girls was great over the past 2 years and I always enjoyed the chats at a training session or match!!

Winning the Irish Senior Cup last year was a fantastic and truly memorable experience and I was so delighted for Darren and all the team who had worked so hard over the season! It was a pity that we didn’t get to finish the season off this year but I’ll be back to watch the games and support the girls next season (without having to worry about jerseys and team sheets!!)"

Thanks Eugenie for all your work, you will be greatly missed by the team and club !

COVID-19 Notice – Safeguarding Workshops

Due to the current government measures in place to limit the spread of COVID-19, many face to face Safeguarding workshops have been postponed. Sport Ireland has provided guidance to National Governing Bodies (NGBs) that completion of this online refresher, in conjunction with other additional steps, can be considered an interim measure until individuals have an opportunity to attend a face to face workshop. For further information please contact your NGB if you have not already done so.

This eLearning tool is also available as normal to those who have completed Safeguarding 1 and wish to refresh their knowledge.

*Please note - Anyone under the age of 18 should have parental consent to access this programme

Click here if you need to update or if you haven't done the course before. The course takes less than an hour to do and finishes off with a short online digital test.
Here is a resource that may be useful for interested hockey coaches. Click on the link here to find out more.
