This prayer update has been a hard one to write.   There has been a sense of purposelessness because of how the quarantine due to COVID-19 has affected my work. I have not been able to regularly meet physically with people for over 4 months now and that caused a big change in the ways we do things due to current restrictions and the desire to keep everyone safe and healthy.

First and foremost, since the the middle of March, Doxa has not physically met due to both government regulations as well what we as leadership feel is most prudent. We have decided that we can love our neighbors and congregants best by doing upholding the quarantine and doing our services and other church activities virtually.

This does not mean that ministry has not been going on.  We as a church and community of faith have been looking hard to find ways to continue to reach our community and encourage our members. This has obviously looked different than it did before the pandemic.  We have come up with creative ways to be a blessing to the our neighbors and share Gospel hope with them.  We have been able to give care packs to people that have lost their jobs and were struggling economically.

One of the coolest things that I have seen happen with Doxa is that the church has become much more dedicated to prayer within the pandemic.  We have had multiple zoom meetings with more than 50 participants both from our church and others in order that we could approach the throne of God in prayer.

One of the hardest thing that I have had to deal with is the isolation.  Before about 3 weeks ago, I was more or less isolated in my apartment for a majority of my days.  Because of this and the ability to continue doing with ministry virtually, I was allowed to go back to the US.  I am currently here and have just finished my 14 day quarantine after my travels.  My hope is to not be here for too much longer, but I have learned that in times like these nothing is certain.  I am confident that God has me where I am for a reason and that He is working things together to advance His Kingdom.

One thing that I would love for you to pray for me about specifically is to know know how to proceed in ministry.  In Doxa and with the ReachGlobal Mexico City team we are looking at what the next steps are and how we can go about  returning to physical meetings taking account the mandate to love our neighbors.  At this point Doxa does not have a specific return date due to the uncertainty of this pandemic, but we are looking forward to returning and thinking through the protocols that are needed in order to return well.

Another thing that I would love from you all is to know how I can pray for you.  I want to be sure that as you are praying for me, that I can go to God in prayer for you as well.  Feel free to send me an email (click the red letters), facebook message, or any other way that you would like to connect with me.
