2021 SIAM prizes accepting nominations
SIAM is now accepting nominations for SIAM major prizes that will be awarded in 2021. Tell them about a colleague who should be honored for their recent contributions to advances in applied mathematics and computational sciences. If you know someone who meets the criteria for one of the SIAM prizes below and deserves to be recognized for their achievements, nominations are due OCTOBER 15, 2020.

They particularly encourage nominations that reflect the increasing diversity of our profession. They rely on our community to keep us informed about recent contributions, and selection committees require at least three nominations to award a given prize. Your nomination counts!

EWM(-NL) grants
EWM has extended the deadline for EWM travel grants to June 15.
More information and instructions on how to apply can be found at https://www.europeanwomeninmaths.org/travel-grants/
(but note that the new deadline is not yet mentioned there).

We would also like to remind you that EWM-NL still has a few small grants of up to €500,- available to support the career development of its members. The purpose of the grants is to facilitate the participation of grantees to events significant to their career by covering expenses not otherwise covered by existing means. Examples of potential events can be training courses, conference attendance, collaboration visits or memberships.

Please email your applications to grants@ewmnetherlands.nl. Include a justification (of why no other funds could be found for the proposed expense) and an estimated budget.
EWM general assembly on July 6
All EWM activities will be postponed, except the EWM general assembly, which will be organised online on July 6. More details will be shared soon.
We do hope to have a large participation of the EWM members at this meeting, as it addresses:
- the activities of the EWM in the last two years;
- election of (deputy) convenors;
- election of the standing committee members;
- the plans of the EWM for the next two years.

It will be a great opportunity for EWM members to provide feedback to the standing committee, to make suggestions and proposals for EWM future activities and get engaged in the association.
Four women among EMS 2020 prize winners

This year’s EMS prize winners have been announced on the 8ECM webpage.
We are particularly delighted to see that 4 prizes out of 12 are for women mathematicians, namely:

Anna Caraiani (Imperial)

Kaisa Matomäki (Turku)

Maryna Viazovska (EPFL)

and Karine Chemla  (Université de Paris & CNRS).

EWM-NL is happy to join EWM in congratulating all prize winners for this well-deserved recognition of their mathematical achievements.

Collecting online teaching resources
With universities being closed down and all teaching moved online, we have all had to go through major transitions and invest a lot of time in developing online course material and teaching environments.

EWM-NL would like to offer a platform to share online teaching resources and ideas. If you are willing to share such material, whether a document or a link to your webpage that contains these materials, please email us at info@ewmnetherlands.nl.
CWM: testimonies from the COVID-19 crisis
CWM (the Committee for Women in Mathematics) has collected a number of brief contributions, written during the second half of April 2020 by CWM members and CWM ambassadors from different countries all over the world, on what the COVID-19 crisis has meant for their lives as women in mathematics.

These testimonies can be found at https://mathunion.org/node/14962
