WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT THIS WEEK

Yamhill County has been host to two large Black Lives Matter events already this week, with a third even larger one planned in Newberg for Thursday night.  We appreciate everyone who has attended in person or virtually.  One small outcome of our joint efforts locally?  McMinnville Police Department has taken down the Blue Lives Matter flag which used to hang in their break area, visible from the street.

Want to do something but not sure what?  These resources have been shared in the group this week:

Volunteer Opportunities
Does the idea of elected office seem too daunting?  Maybe a volunteer position on a board is more your speed.
Progressive Yamhill is a non-partisan group with a regional focus on Yamhill County politics at the city, county, and state level, as well as a vehicle to connect with neighbors on issues and actions at a federal level.  Our goal is to connect, educate, inform, and actively participate in the creation of a local community that shares and supports our mission.  You can learn more about our origin, and our group, at our website.

Our growing Facebook Group is 'Private', meaning that unless you are in the group, you cannot search for it, see anything anyone posts in it, or even find out who else is a member.  We take our members privacy seriously and have a team of moderators who vet every new member before adding them.  In order to enable new members to find us, and to communicate key events to the public, we also have a public Facebook Page.  If you would like to join, and the first link didn't work for you, use the second link and follow the instructions to let us know!

We Are engaged residents and friends of Yamhill Valley who believe in developing a community that both respects and creates equity, inclusion, safety and freedom from fear & hate for all. Our purpose is to educate & inform, and to actively participate in the creation of a local climate in support of these beliefs.
