A Message from your 2019-2020 PTA President
Hello Lutz Prep Families,

I am thrilled to present your PTA Executive Board for the 2020-2021 School Year.  Before I do, I’d like to reflect on this past year.

First, I’d like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to serve as your President this past year.  Each school year the PTA begins with a vision and a robust schedule of PTA’s treasured programs.  It takes a small village of compassionate and committed people that include PTA leaders, parent volunteers, teachers, and administrators to execute these programs.  While this year was unlike others, our PTA team navigated the changes and successfully implemented most of our programs.

Here are some highlights:

Our Bolts of Blue Fundraiser, specifically the Online Silent Auction led by Jackie Dreksler and her team was the most successful auction in our history of Lutz Prep Auctions.  These campaigns fund our programs.

The 2nd annual Trunk or Treat event supported by PTA, led by Deb Annicchiarico in conjunction with Middle School Student Council was well attended even though Mother Nature tried to “rain on our parade”, it didn’t stop families from coming out and enjoying this favorite Fall event.

The Father-Daughter Dance in February was a huge hit with the theme of Daddy Daughter Under the Sea led by the creative efforts of Tera Cox and Jennifer Kouffman.  The photo booth was a highlight, check out the adorable photos if you have not already.

Teacher Appreciation Week and PTA’s ongoing show of appreciation towards our amazing teachers is always a highlight of the PTA.   Teacher Appreciation Week led by Stefanie Alt and her very creative team spoiled our teachers in typical fashion.  This year’s theme of “Nacho Your Average Teacher” provided teachers with Mexican themed lunches, treats, and gifts throughout the week.

Teacher Mini Grants were extended to all teaching staff including Special Services, Specials, and Teachers who were eligible to apply for items to use in their classrooms.  These items included supplemental learning programs,  art supplies, science equipment, math supplies, flexible seating chair, books, books, and more books.

While the COVID-19 pandemic led us to cancel some events, it changed the way our children learn.  PTA was able to redirect some funds for teachers such as the grade level funds typically used for year-end activities, they were able to apply these funds towards other needed items such as some printers for classrooms.

Yearbook Update:  the pandemic also had an impact on the production of our yearbook. Please stay tuned on a yearbook pick up date in late summer/early fall. We can’t wait for you to see the memories from this past school year including many of the ZOOM meetings and student’s learning in their homes.

For the coming year, we added a VP of Yearbook to take on the role of creating the school yearbook. What’s even more exciting there are plans for 8th graders to participate in the making of our 2020-2021 yearbook!

And now, I’d like to present the 2020-2021 PTA Executive Board
  • President:  Stefanie Alt
  • Treasurer:  Amanda Alvarez
  • Recording Secretary:  Amber Loper
  • Corresponding Secretary:  Jay Ford
  • Ways and Means:  Jackie Dreksler
  • Pre-Prep:  Jill Whelton
  • Elementary:  Jennifer Kouffman
  • Middle School:  Debbie Annicchiarico
  • School Support:  Pilar Topping
  • Yearbook:  Trish Schaefer
This team has a blend of experienced and new PTA Board members, all who are very talented, committed to our school, and ready to make the upcoming school year amazing!

Have a safe and wonderful summer!

6th Grade Online Debate
The last 3 weeks of school 6th graders prepared for an online debate.  During these unprecedented times, students took control of their learning by organizing their own ZOOM meetings and communicating in their very own EDSBY group pages.  This project took a lot of leadership, dedication, and responsibility.   By competing in the debates, students had the opportunity to practice real world skills and utilize a variety of standards we learned throughout the quarter.   The final debate came down to two teams: The Debate Dawgs and Arguably the Best, led by team captains Zachary N. and Landyn E., respectively.  While, both teams were amazing and it was an extremely tough call, Arguably the Best came out on top, Team Members: Landyn E., Cole D., Jayden B., Chandler D., and Kate W..  Way to go!  We may just have a debate team in Lutz Prep's future.
