Dear Dominican Community,
Yesterday, we issued a statement on social media surrounding racial injustice and the protests that have occurred across our country. We heard from several members of our community, and we want you to know that we have heard you. Dominican stands in support with everyone who is appalled by the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, as well as the racism the Black community experiences. As a school community, we affirm the value and dignity of our Black students, Black alumni, Black current and past parents, and we stand in solidarity with all those affected by social injustice.
The Black community is suffering throughout our country, Dominican’s Black community is suffering. We hear your anger, cries for help and frustration with the continual experiences of racism. Dominican understands that we need to listen and learn from you, as well as speak up on your behalf.
The Sinsinawa Dominicans are best known for teaching and preaching. As a school community, we need to teach and preach the importance of social justice and ensure that every student, including all students of color, know they are valued and loved and how important they are to our community.
Dominican High School invites you to join us for the following events focusing on prayer, reflection and dialogue. We look forward to your guidance and wisdom in our efforts to support our students.
