Message from the Principal

A Wide Range of Emotions

Happy Friday, Bulldogs! Hard to believe we only have one week left of school.  The students, families, teachers, and staff have all continued to do such an amazing job throughout this time, but I know we are all tired and looking forward to a well deserved break.

As I write this, I am definitely feeling a wide range of emotions.  First, we sent off our 8th grade graduates on Wednesday.  While we could not have a normal celebration, it was still a wonderful day filled with gifts for the graduates, inspirational videos, a very spirited and fun car parade, and a bittersweet but beautiful livestream mass and ceremony.  I was so struck by the gratitude, joy and readiness we saw in each of our graduates.  They truly embody what we hope our students leave with and carry into their future.

On top of that, we continue to face a very challenging situation in our country.  Please take time to read our counselor, Mrs. Dahl, letter below and use the resources she provides to talk with your children.  They need you to talk to them, to listen to them, to process with them, and to find ways to build hope.  As a staff, we are talking about this and what we need to do to be models of justice, compassion, and change.

Finally, there is the unknown of the fall.  I will be sending a letter to families next week that outlines where we are in the planning process and what to expect in terms of summer communications and decisions.  As I have said many times, I wish I had definite answers and we are committed to having students on campus as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support, patience, flexibility and communication.  I do not want to sound like a broken record, but it is so genuine when I say how grateful I am for each of you.

Ok, now I need to go prepare for having a few pies thrown in my face.  Pretty amazing to see the support of our virtual Walkathon and everyone’s generosity in the midst of everything. I am truly humbled and actually looking forward to seeing these pies fly because it means I will get to see students’ smiling faces.

Have a wonderful weekend with your amazing families.

With gratitude,

Kathleen Conklin

Principal

Field Day - Wednesday

Please join the ASB 7th Grade for Field Day 2020, Wednesday, June 10.  Instructions and a kickoff message will be delivered to families next week!

Camp ASB and KinderCamp

As mentioned, ASB is preparing to offer both Camp ASB and KinderCamp in Summer 2020.  However, we are closely following the pandemic and the potential challenges that may arise in holding our camps. After a great deal of research and investigation, it is clear that Camp ASB and KinderCamp Session 1 are not going to be safe to open on June 15th and June 22nd.

KinderCamp Session 1 is being moved to August.  We will communicate more details to families soon.

Camp ASB will start on Monday, June 29th.

We are aware that this is the second delay in the projected start to Camp ASB, and we are incredibly sorry for this situation.  As it has been stated before, this situation is ever changing and we continue to get new information each day.

A Message from Parent Board President

Thank You, ASB Family

What an incredible year we have all experienced. I am so deeply honored that you allowed me the privilege to serve as President of our Parent Board. As I reflect on my term, I am humbled to stand in the shadow of those who held the position before me and I already know Shannon Hull will be incredible in her role as President next year. I will also look forward to continuing support for the board next year as President Emeritus.
