PHA Strategic Planning
2020-2025

PHA Strategic planning 2020-2025: An invitation
The Public Health Association of New Zealand has a proud history of speaking out about important public health issues. Our passionate members have been at the forefront of movements to

•            extend human rights protections,
•            have challenged BIG tobacco,
•            fought for equitable health services,
•            decriminalise prostitution,
•            clean water and
•            the upholding of te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Our members are Tangata Whenua, Tangata Tiriti and Tangata Moana. We share a commitment to a common vision of everyone being able to enjoy their right to health.

With the passing of our President Dr Fran McGrath  it has been a time of reflection for the PHA Council, as we focus on strengthening our infrastructure, reengaging with our values, while our staff continue to influence policy. As a Council there is much work ahead of us before the upcoming AGM when members will have a chance to determine the makeup of the team that will lead us into the future.

A very important part of our infrastructural strengthening has been developing a first DRAFT PHA strategic plan 2020-2025. We seek feedback from our members and public health allies on this draft plan to support us in our future collective direction over the next five years. With unprecedented interest in public health, now is our time to push forward but we need some consensus from members about what the direction forward is.

Feel free to contact any of the Council members if you have questions or queries. A number of us will be available to either walk branches/caucuses or organise a Zoom meeting through the proposed plan. We sincerely look forward to your contributions. Deadline for feedback is 17/6/2020.

Feedback can be sent to president@pha.org.nz.
