Workforce Retention Bonus Grant
On 20 March 2020, the Prime Minister announced funding to support the retention of the aged care workforce during COVID-19, providing a retention bonus for direct care workers in residential and home care to support the continuity of the direct care workforce.
The retention bonus will be paid by employers (aged care providers and agencies who provide aged care staff) to their eligible staff. Employers will apply and be funded to make the payment through a grant round opening in June 2020.
Workers need to be employed at the time of application to be eligible.

Self Care for Health Care Professionals During COVID-19
Palliative Care Australia have launched online self-care resources to assist in preventing burnout and building resistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. These resources are aimed at health professionals in hospital but can also be beneficial for all workers in aged care.
Planning and practising effective self-care strategies can support workers to flourish and support others, both personally and professionally. It is important for aged care workers to proactively care for themselves, assist others in their care and seek further support if needed.
