Dear, much-missed community,

What to say?  These days are often leaving me speechless.
Impacted, thrown, awed, afire, melted. So I take some pauses to be silent,
and other rests to be entirely inward,
and then I look to regain and use the powers of hearing and of speech.

What do you say?  Shall we dance next week?

Providence Farm is opening the festival stage and field to us.
This community space will be lonely for company in the coming summer of cancellations.
Let's occupy it with embodied soul. We'll gather, and we'll see what wants to move,
and how it wants to move us on down the road we humans must walk.

This incredible spot will give a bit of rain and sun protection for those in need,
and all the room we could possibly desire for healthy spacing

while closing the distance between our hearts.

We are unimaginably fortunate to have this place to gather, feet on earth, for a while.
My dad has always said: Let's make hay while the sun shines.

Gratitude to those who joined online classes and kept a core group connected.
Drop-in online classes are over for now. I may offer dances by Zoom in future
- to committed groups. If you have an interest in this, let me know.

THE DETAILS!

WE DANCE RAIN OR SHINE.
Check the weather and come prepared. Remember: weather changes quickly on the Island!
*Always bring layers, and bring dance wear for rain if in doubt.*

There is shade and shelter available on the dance floor on-stage,
*but depending on attendance there may not be physically-distanced room for all dancers.*

MOTHER YOURSELF.
Bring a good supply of drinking water with you, and snacks if you tend to blood-sugar drops.
If it rains or has been raining, you may want a blanket to put between you and the ground.

SAFETY, CLEANLINESS, RESPECT:  YOU DO YOU.
You will be checked in by our caring crew.
They will offer you hand sanitizer and ask after any Covid-19 symptoms.  We have to do this.

We'll have access to ground-floor bathrooms, cleaned before class.
We can welcome dancers 13 years of age and up for these events.
The dance field is huge. Take all the space you wish.
Give others all the space they ask for - and always 6 feet.

Make no assumptions about others' personal space requirements,
personal protection practices - or their reasons.

This is a chance to practice asking and answering directly, giving and taking both yes and no
for an answer, with non-attachment, sovereignty, and simple kindness.
This week's wave on Mixcloud is a fundraiser.

All donations e-transferred to chantellfoss@gmail.com will go here... or just donate directly:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/covid19-black-community-support
"This Black community support initiative is a fundraiser for a low-barrier, emergency, micro-grant program for Black people in British Columbia, who are experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds raised through this GoFundMe page will be distributed in one-time allotments of $150, to Black folks on a first-come, first-served basis."
~
Our own dance can help sustain a movement to allow others some breathing room.
We need not make a choice.
