San Diego Temple June Newsletter 

As we continue to shelter in place in our homes and community, we continue to be sheltered in the love and wisdom of Paramahansa Yogananda and his teachings. His protection and guidance can be felt in a tangible way, when we seek to commune with him through meditation and service to others. Our spiritual bond is made stronger by being linked to the many offerings available through the on-line meditations, study groups and the recent all day monastic led retreat on May 30th, by our minister, Brother Nakulananda. Devotees from around the world gathered together-- virtually as a large spiritual family to meditate, chant, and be guided in the Energization Exercises. A special highlight was watching a video of Brother Anandamoy as he shared ways to glean the most out of a spiritual retreat and how to cultivate closeness with God and Paramahansa Yogananda in our daily active lives.

 

After reviewing California health requirements for reopening, and the protocols required of our facilities, it has been determined that all SRF Temples will remain closed for the time being. Although we cannot be together physically and experience the joy of fellowship together, we can continue to be connected through prayer and participating in the on-line spiritual activities. In the weekly inspirational on-line service, the minister led us in an affirmation by Paramahansa Yogananda that gives us strength, courage, light and the assurance of God’s presence in our life.

 

“I am submerged in Eternal Light. It permeates every particle of my being.

I am living in that Light. The Divine Spirit fills me within and without.”

 

May we continue to feel the protection and guidance of our Heavenly Father this month as we honor the Divine Spirit in those who have been “only pure wisdom” in our lives.

 

We have been asked by her friends to inform those from our Temple that long-time devotee, Madeline Manayo made a peaceful final transition on June 3^rd while listening to tapes of Master’s words and music.  A celebration of life will be planned in the future.
