Wilmington, Delaware
Creation Care Youth Group Sunday
Sunday, June 7, 2020

This Sunday we will hear the voices and share in the hearts of our youth. Since the state of emergency began, the Jr. and Sr. High youths have been meeting via Zoom every Sunday afternoon. In partnership with the Faith in Action Committee, they have prepared a worship service that calls us to accountability for preserving God's great gift of creation.

On Saturday evening we will send out the link for the YouTube video that captures their efforts - and the sustaining power of the Spirit. May God bless the message they bring to us; no less our response.
The "Reopening" Plan

Dear Hanover Saints,
Last Monday the Elders gathered with the Worship Committee to discuss the details and plans for when we would open our doors for worship.

After an exhaustive discussion about all the aspects of reopening, it was decided that we will continue with recorded worship services until July 19. Barring any developments that would make it unsafe, we are planning to worship in person together again on Sunday, July 26.

There were many considerations that led to this decision. First and foremost we will carefully watch the trends of the virus between now and the 26th because at this time the numbers do not instill the sense of stability we are wanting to see. Our primary concern is now, and always, the safety and security of the Saints.

During this time, the leadership in the church will be plowing through the painstaking task of preparing for our reopening. Given all the needed precautions, worship will be quite different. Everything from how we come and go, sing, pray, preach, give, and sit will be new for all of us. There will be new protocols for which worship leaders will be trained. And we are committed to creating a way to offer our services so that any who cannot, or choose not, to attend can still partake in the Spirit.

In the time leading up to the day of our reunion, we will be constantly communicating so that we will all have a sense of what we can expect.

Time and again the Psalmist urged the people to “wait patiently for the Lord”. As difficult as it is, may you continue to receive God’s presence in each of your days and places, and may you be blessed with deep and abiding faith and hope…and patience. Let us wait in…
Peace,
Andy

This Is Our Time Campaign Update
Earlier today we received the news that we've worked for and dreamed of for nearly ten years. Today, an inspector from the state's Department of Health came to our Gathering Place kitchen. She came with her white gloves, checklist, thermometer, and tape measure to determine whether the newly renovated kitchen meets the code requirements to be licensed for public food preparation.

Praise God, here is the heart of her report: A pre-operational inspection was conducted today, June 4, 2020. All conditions of ATC #19-NC-154 FE have been met. This report serves as your interim Food Establishment to operate.

My friends, that is state-speak for WE PASSED!

May God bless each and every morsel of food that is prepared and served from our new kitchen; that it would bring comfort, nourishment, hope, and...
Peace
On Wednesday backhoes and shovels started digging a trench from the Baynard side of the building into the Boulevard to install a new water line. This trench is required in order to install larger water lines that will provide the necessary pressure needed for the sprinkler system which will provide safety and security for all who use our gym.

May God bless our ditches, digging, and deconstruction as it leads to our reconstruction, renewal, and revival!
In our ongoing effort to stay connected and support one another, we have scheduled a Zoom meeting every Wednesday from 5:30-6:30. All are encouraged to check in, and you can do so with an internet-connected computer, smart phone, or telephone. Next Wednesday we will ask...

Where is hell?

Contact the church office if you would like the Zoom link. Praise God for the safe space to learn and grow together - especially in the midst of crisis.
Peace,

Andy

A "VIRTUAL" JEREMIAH'S COFFEEHOUSE!
This talent call is going out to everyone - we'd like to have a "virtual" Jeremiah's Coffee House!  If you have something to share - musical, poetry, a story, a craft - anything - take a short recording of it and send it in to the Church Office at: churchadmin@hanoverchurch.org.  Once we gather our recordings, we'll have Tom Davis work his magic on them, and make them into a "virtual" coffeehouse.

Inspiration for these days
CLICK HERE to hear Maya Angelou recite her own poem, "Still I Rise."

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

Blessed be your journey . . .
