How will business - and social business - change after the pandemic? Stephan Chambers, Marshall Institute Director, believes the crisis will have a lasting impact. "There will be no such thing in the next 20 years of just doing what we used to do, the stakes are too high," Chambers argued in a recent Marshall Institute webinar. "We have to take the damaged institutions, repair them and then rebuild."
Research revealing widespread racial inequity in philanthropic funding has led to calls for the sector to #buildbackbetter after the crisis - to close the racial funding gap. Impact investing must also take the opportunity to reform, argues Aunnie Patton Power, a Marshall Institute Visiting Fellow. Patton Power recommends 10 ways to redesign venture finance for a more inclusive post-Covid world. Changes in investor behaviour have already been noted, and linked to the crisis: asurvey of UK wealth managers found that most of those polled believe the pandemic will result in increased ESG investing.
