Raise your voice for Washington's wolves

The state of Washington is working to update its rules for lethal control of wolves. After a tough few years of repeated killing in the same corner of the state, the state wildlife agency must begin to operate under a more transparent protocol with more public accountability and a higher threshold for lethal action.

The agency has been ordered to work on this, but to move the process forward, several Pacific Wolf Coalition member groups have petitioned the Fish and Wildlife Commission to impose stricter guidelines on the wildlife agency. You can read more about it here.

The Commission will be holding its next meeting on June 12-13.

  • You can get involved by contacting the Commission by June 10 at commission@dfw.wa.gov with your comments on how YOU would like to see the state manage its small population of wild wolves. Please send your comments by June 10. If you are from Washington or like to visit Washington, say so!

  • If you have the time and resources to amplify your voice, you can sign up to testify at the Commission hearing, which will be held remotely via Zoom, June 12-13. Schedule.

  • THANK Washington wildlife managers for choosing not to move to lethal action against the Wedge Pack last week, after it was confirmed that pack members were involved in livestock depredation. Instead, the department is trying nonlethal measures, which is a hopeful sign. Let's encourage them to continue on this path! Email the wildlife commission at commission@dfw.wa.gov with your thoughts, and let the governor know if you'd like to see his wildlife agency continue to try methods other than killing wolves!

Thank you for your dedication to our wild cousins.
Stay safe and well,
The Pacific Wolf Coalition
