UNCTAD Update: Coronavirus Pandemic (22 - 28 May)
For the week of 22 - 28 May 2020, we outline how UNCTAD and the WHO have teamed to respond to the urgent call to boost local production of essential medicines in developing countries.

We also feature a joint United Nations project, with UNCTAD and the five UN regional commissions joining forces to help developing countries tackle trade and transport challenges from the coronavirus pandemic.

On the commentary front, medicine was the topic du jour. This week we listed a series of actions to boost low and middle-income countries’ productive capacity for medicines

We also issued a plea to develop and maintain more sustainable value chains and research shows that total commodity exports to China could fall dramatically as a result of the coronavirus crisis.
