"A strong woman looks a challenge dead in the eye and gives it a wink"  Gina Carey

Hello PSWIFTies ~

It's been a challenging time but we are women and we are resilient.  Stay the course, remain positive, love one another and remember to feed your soul.

Although we haven't been able to convene in person, we hope you've been enjoying our Virtual Speakers Series.  We've interviewed Tristan Rogers and Andrew Neiderman, and next up is Emmy nominated actor, writer, producer Sean Kanan (see below). Make sure you check the website at www.pswift.org for information on how to join in the sessions.

We remain hopeful about holding the Broken Glass Awards Gala on October 24th. This would be a wonderful way to reunite while celebrating inspiring individuals.  We also hope to have a mixer when we feel it's safe enough to do.  In the meantime, reach out to us with any news, stories or ideas.

Be well, stay busy and we send lots of love.

COCKTAILS WITH EMMY NOMINEE SEAN KANAN
Virtual Speakers Series
June 11th at 5pm

A true Renaissance man, Sean Kanan epitomizes the expression “triple threat“ having achieved success as an actor, producer and author. His first book, The Modern Gentleman: Cooking and Entertaining with Sean Kanan received rave reviews. His second  book, Success Factor X, became an Amazon new release best seller one week after its release and was recently named one of the twenty most inspirational books in the last two decades by Book Authority.

Sean’s acting career exploded with his breakout performance as a villain, Mike Barnes, in the The Karate Kid III beating out over two thousand hopefuls in an open call.  He then went from his iconic award winning role in daytime television playing black sheep A.J. Quartermaine on General Hospital to his critically acclaimed portrayal of Deacon Sharpe on The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful which is television’s most syndicated show in history, seen in over one hundred countries. Having appeared in more than one thousand episodes of network television and fifteen feature films, Sean is recognized around the world.  Most recently Sean has created and stars in the critically acclaimed and 8 Emmy Nominations digital series Studio City exclusively on Amazon Prime.  Sean is very active in numerous charitable organizations including The American Cancer Society, various animal advocacy groups and serves as the youth ambassador for Boo2Bullying. Sean and wife, Michele, split their time between Los Angeles and Palm Springs where he has a star on the walk of fame.  He spends his free time practicing martial arts, cooking, traveling and studying multiple foreign languages.

ShortFest 2020 will look different from previous editions. Here's what they have planned:

  • Early June, they will announce an Official Selection, curated from the more than 6,000 submissions received this season. A selection of these films will be available for screening on their website for free from June 16-22, 2020 (the original dates of the festival).
  • Virtual classes and panels with industry guests will be available from June 16-22, 2020 as part of the ShortFest Forum. A selection of those panels will be available to the general public with advanced registration.
  • In late June, they will announce the winners from their curated line-up presenting them with awards and cash prizes worth $25,000 including five Academy Award® qualifying awards.
  • They will be returning all submission fees to FilmFreeway who will issue full refunds or credit to filmmakers.

While it may look different, ShortFest remains dedicated to providing a space to facilitate connections between creators, industry, and our amazing audience.
