New website, a New Series of Mini-webinars, and Antibody Affinity in the Spotlight

If you are like me, you get lots of invitations to view lots of different webinars, but you find it difficult to devote an entire hour-- even if the topic is of great interest. FiberCell Systems has put together a series of 4 shorter “mini-webinars” at around 20 minutes each. They won’t take up too much of your time!
 
 

We Launched a New Resource Website for the Hollow Fiber Infection Model

 
This website is intended to be an informational resource for the Hollow Fiber Infection Model Community. It includes instructional videos, references, an interactive spreadsheet detailing the drugs, pathogens and cartridges used, a place for researchers to post PowerPoint presentations and notifications about new publications along with a discussion forum. We hope that it will be a valuable tool for long term users of the HFIM as well as a training resource for newcomers.

FiberCell Laboratories is Reopening!

 

It was most unfortunate that we had to terminate our ongoing projects.  However, we are now reopening.  We have a project that has demonstrated the bio-equivalence of 3-D hollow fiber produced exosomes compared to 2-D exosomes from amniotic stem cells for treating kidney disease. The regenerative effects of exosomes continue to be of significance, exemplified by a new clinical trial for inhaled MSC EVs for lung regeneration after COVID-19 infection, enrolling in Wuhan. FiberCell Systems has also used this time to organize a three-way collaboration between a prominent European stem cell company and an Eastern European chromatography company to demonstrate the practical scale of our larger hollow fiber bioreactors for cGMP compatible, clinical scale production of extracellular vesicles. Based upon data from our smaller cartridges it is expected that we will produce between 1014 to 1015 EV particles and 200-300 mg of EV protein in less than 10 liters of conditioned medium. I believe it will be the first-time exosomes have been produced and purified at this scale.

New Data Has Come out Showing that 3-D Hollow Fiber Bioreactors Can Produce Antibodies with Higher Affinity Than Standard 2-D Produced Antibodies
 


This is likely due to the efficient removal of ammonia in hollow fiber bioreactors resulting in consistent and correct levels of glycosylation.
