COVID-19 has disrupted cultural life all over the world. Countries are slowly opening up now, but art is still only online or on electronic media.
In this special newsletter, we are delighted to share with you some upcoming online programmes and a few ideas on how to make the most of e-resources on French culture (you will find more ideas on our website).

IFI & CPB virtual engagements with French and Indian artists, curators, heads of museums, and galleries, in June-July

After last Saturday's talk between Arko Datto, Photo artist and CPB Edition III Co-curator and Damarice Amao, Assistant Curator, Department of Photography, Musée national d’art moderne, Centre Pompidou, Paris (access link here), join us again this Saturday for a discussion around the upcoming exhibition at Musée du Quai Branly, Paris, "Who is gazing? and the infinite connection between things" (starting 30 June). Christine Barthe, Curator of the exhibition and Head of the photographic collection at the Musée du Quai Branly will be in conversation with Dayanita Singh and Heba Amin, two amongst the 26 exhibiting artists of the show.

Fête de la Musique (World Music Day) 2020

On 21st June, the Alliance Française network in India will offer you a unique musical experience through 4 exciting videos covering a wide range of musical genres, and featuring 20 artists from all over India. Watch it on the Facebook page of any Alliance Francaise in India. On this occasion, Alliance Francaise du Bengale is organising a musical fundraiser  "La Fête de la Musique for West Bengal", in association with Calcutta Classical Guitar Society, Kolkata Centre for Creativity and Littlei.
Institut Français Paris joins forces with the Zebrock team and their Mélo platform to set up a "world tour of music". They will share music programmes of Alliances Françaises and French Institutes from all over the world, in an interactive programme with more than 60 events and more than 150 artists. More info here.

Following the success of #culturecheznous, (Culture at home),  a website created during the lockdown by the French Ministry of Culture to collating  a variety of national online content, the Ministry has now instituted a permanent website offering more than 700 cultural and artistic programmes online, from more than 500 sources. The website also tracks the places that are reopened to the public.
The platform comprises of virtual visits of museums or galleries podcasts, online performances and concerts, radio and TV archives, online conferences, games and content for children. Visit: https://www.culturecheznous.gouv.fr/ Enjoy your exploration!

New Futures: Grant-making Practices for the Contemporary

In the framework of the launch of the Serendipity Arles Grant, 2020 (SAG), Serendipity Arts Festival hosted a conversation between jury members Dayanita Singh, Ravi Agarwal and Tanzim Wahab for the Serendipity Arles Grant focusing on redefining and better understanding grant-making approaches. The talk also addressed queries with regard to applications for the SAG 2020. The discussion was moderated by Sam Stourdzé.

THROWBACK
Seminar Malraux on 'Culture in Urban Public Spaces' -  6th Round Table (online)

Throwback to last September, when French and Indian participants came together for the first Malraux Seminar organised in India on 'Culture in Urban Public Spaces’. On the sidelines of the seminar, participants took a guided visit to the Lodhi Art District by St+art India Foundation, attended an open air performance by dancers Ali Salmi and Astaad Deboo, and concluded their experience with a soiree in the courtyard of Raw Mango.
A few months later, in May, the Malraux Seminar convened again with 20 participants for a 6th Round Table virtually. A report of recommendations is under compilation
