As thunder has rumbled and the first big rainstorms have arrived in South East Asia, the month of May seems to have come and gone in record time. In this edition we take a look back at some highlights and glance ahead to the end of term celebrations.

BSY on screen
November seems like an age ago doesn’t it? You might remember that we had a company in school creating some films for us. I am delighted with the videos they have made, and hope that you will enjoy this short piece which gives an insight into our very special BSY story.

You asked... we did...
Some recent developments in response to your feedback have been to include all live lesson meeting codes for Secondary classes, to focus on fun in Primary and to build more opportunities for group and social time in EYFS. Do keep your ideas and suggestions coming so that we can continue to improve our virtual School Experience.

Welcome to our new families! Virtual Coffee
One of our aims this year has been to develop our communications. Alongside regular updates from a designated Admissions officer, the Heads of School, an updated parents’ guide (attached here for your information). New Parent Yangon Guide Book  and the implementation of a student buddy “pen pal”, we hosted “virtual coffee and chat” sessions last week to support the induction process for families joining us next year. Thank you to those current parents who helped to make our new mums and dads feel so welcome. The only missing ingredient was a delicious slice of cake from the Yangon Bake House!

Virtual Open Day
We are always keen to show off BSY to prospective families, and are excited to be hosting our first Virtual Open Day on June 16th, at 3.30 pm. If you have any friends who might be interested, please do let them know that this is a great opportunity to discover more about our school. For more details and to register contact admissions@britishschoolyangon.org
Expectopatronum BSY!
5B had a magical week when they swapped pencil cases for magic wands and spent a wonderful wizards’ apprenticeship in our very own virtual Hogwarts. Thank you to Miss Hill and Mr Owens, plus all the other teachers who contributed to the many spellbinding activities that were on offer!

Save the date: It's a celebration!
We have a host of virtual celebrations planned to celebrate our students’ successes this
year and take a moment to say goodbye to our leavers.

Sports Awards
Friday 5th June 2020 - 6pm MMT
The event of the year... the Annual Sports Awards is back for its 2nd year, albeit in a slightly different fashion!

All students in Year 3 upwards who have taken part in a competitive fixture this academic year are invited to share the evening with us. We request smart casual dress and meet at 6pm ready for some fun games, amazing entertainment, some awful jokes and probably some technical glitches on the way too but nothing that the PE Department can't overcome. For more information please contact Mr Dean in the PE Department.

Primary Prize Giving Ceremony
Friday 19th June 2020 - 11am MMT
We hope you will be able to attend our Prize Giving Ceremony, where we celebrate your children's effort and attainment. Further information to follow.

As we move toward the end of term your class teachers will contact you regarding a virtual end of term class party.

EYFS Party
Wednesday 17th June 2020 - 1.30pm MMT
For our EYFS children and families, Mr. Smith will be leading an 'End of Year Game Playing Party' for our final EYFS Social Event! The link to join in with this is here.
