Aloha church family!
This past Sunday we celebrated Pentecost, a day that has been called the "birthday" of the church. We also celebrated with our 2020 graduates (video button below in case you missed it).
Pastor Cheryl brought us through a prayer of lament to grieve with those who are grieving as well as name the ways God is inviting us to further align ourselves with God's will and God's ways. Pastor Dan called us to be be moved by the Holy Spirit to join the sound of heaven coming to earth, even as those first disciples did on that Pentecost.
In short, it was a full (and meaningful) Sunday. :)
As this new week begins, what have you been finding yourself doing more of these days? You may be grieving or celebrating, joining in action, recalibrating or re-aligning. Wherever you find yourself, try and take time this week to let the Holy Spirit move you towards God's agenda and action in your life.
On our part, the pastor team is continuing to take time out in our schedules for intentional discerning prayer. We'll be sharing our next proposed steps for our in-person worship times together in light of this pandemic by the end of this week.
If you haven't yet filled out the anonymous survey below regarding in-person worship, please do so to help us hear you well!

"Pneuma"
You may have noticed this art installation entitled "Pneuma" during Sunday's livestream. Jonathan Wong created it just for Pentecost Sunday. (Thanks, Jonathan!)
Pneuma is the Greek word for "spirit" but also can mean breath and wind. When I see this installation, I'm reminded of how God breathed God's very own breath to give the first human life in Genesis 2, and how Jesus breathes on his disciples in John 20, telling them not to fear and to receive the Holy Spirit.
So dear ones, with God's breath in your lungs, and God's Holy Spirit living within you, may you go into this week knowing and allowing God to move you in ever more meaningful and holistic ways for the blessing of the world which God loves!
