Dear People of Hope,

This has been a troubling week in our nation and in our world.  Those of you who were able to attend Sunday's Pentecost worship service heard Pastor Sarah preach:

Remember, Jesus, the one whom we follow and call Savior and Lord, was a man of color who died from asphyxiation as he hung on the cross at the hands of the state. Jesus is no stranger to confronting oppressive systems that kill and dehumanize.  Love always stands in solidarity with the vulnerable and oppressed. Love is willing to sacrifice ease and seeks the other’s wellbeing.

It is hard to know how to respond; it is not clear what is the most faithful and helpful.

One option this week is to join Father Tim from St Andrew's, me and my family, and other neighbors for a Thursday evening silent prayer vigil.  From 7:30-8pm we will be outside St Andrew's church, 4512 College Ave, wearing masks, and staying at least 6 feet apart.  Join us in praying for the people of our country:  for an end to racism in all forms; for an end to hatred and division; for justice; and for peace.

I have found and shared some other resources below.  There will be more.

May God's peace bless you, our nation and our world this week,

     Pastor Julie
