Dear <<First Name>>,

In keeping with the universal guidance issued by the state, and with permission from the Department of Business and Economic Affairs, the Makerspace will be re-opening in a limited capacity starting today June 2nd.

If you have not already, please read the COVID Rules for Members. It is also copied below. There are some minor changes since the last email to clarify certain rules.

To help clarify some of the rules that people have asked about, please read the following:

Members must use a new Time Reservation system.

Link to the Reserve Time page.

One of the significant changes is that members will be required to use a new Time Reservation system. You can find this in the website’s main menu. This will take some getting used to and will hopefully only be needed for a short period of time. It is important, however, in order to ensure we avoid exceeding our 12-person building capacity and making sure members have equal opportunity to plan time at the Makerspace.

If you have any issues when trying to use the system please reach out to Alex for assistance at alex@portcitymakerspace.com or call the shop at 603-373-1002. This system is new to all of us, and there may be some learning to do, so we ask for your patience and assistance to work out any kinks.

New - Rented Storage/Workspace time reservation

To make accommodations for those that rent space in the Maker Village and Project Storage areas, we also have a time reservation page set up.

Enter and Exit through the Classroom door.

The Classroom entrance will have a check-in station. This is where you will

  • Swipe your RFID tag at the door (you will be provided one if you do not have one)

  • Take your temperature when you first walk in,

  • Grab a bottle of sanitizer to wipe down things you touch,

  • Read the current policies if you have not already

Alex will be stationed in that room if you need assistance the first time you come back to the space.

Suspended membership payments will be resuming soon.

Members that had suspended their recurring membership payments will have their payments resume in the next few days. At the moment we are not sure if our payment processor Paypal will bill immediately for this month, or if it will bill at the next billing date. If it is the next billing date, we will reach out to you about making a payment for this month.

Please swipe your RFID tag when entering and leaving.

As a redundant measure for keeping track of people coming and going, we are asking people to swipe their RFID badges. If you do not have one, one will be provided to you when you arrive. The main purpose of this is to provide another means of knowing who was at the shop at the same time, so that if we get a report of someone being confirmed positive for COVID-19 we can inform those who have been close to that person.

As an additional benefit to providing everyone with RFID tags, we can program our RFID system to allow members in according to the hours of their membership level. That means down the road if Alex was to work remotely or become sick, people could still have guaranteed access to the space regardless of whether he was there to unlock the door. This is something we’ve been working towards for a while, and it could become important in the current situation.

Report symptoms or confirmed cases to alex@portcitymakerspace.com.

Before coming to the space, we urge you to report any symptoms or proximity to someone that has tested positive for COVID-19 as soon as possible. We will respect your right to privacy and will not share your name or information when informing people that may have been exposed. If you have any symptoms or think you might have been exposed, do not come to the Makerspace, and please seek medical advice from a doctor.

These rules are temporary and will be changing over time.

As a reminder to everyone: while these rules are strict and may make work difficult, they are a requirement for this early stage of re-opening and will be loosened up over time. The world has not gone back to normal yet, and the universal guidance from the state and CDC instructs businesses to slowly phase in their operations. For those seeking information you can read the Universal Guidance from the state here.

We are glad to be able to begin operating again in a limited capacity and providing access to our great workspace. It’s certainly been hard on people not being able to see their fellow members and friends as well as access the resources at the Makerspace. It is our hope that the pandemic continues to improve and we do not see another spike in positive cases.

Thank you for being a part of our community, and working with us to stay healthy and productive.  If you have questions, please call us at 603-373-1002 or email us at info@portcitymakerspace.com.
