HAND IN HAND AFGHANISTAN'S COVID-19 RESPONSE EFFORTS
Hand in Hand Afghanistan has started the second phase of COVID-19 Response project in Balkh province where 3,500 households are supported to increase awareness about the prevention of COVID-19 transmission and provide access to hygiene kits. The project is implemented in collaboration with the provincial public health, economy and refugees & repatriation departments. The project field trainers conduct awareness sessions separately for each household on prevention of COVID-19 using printed posters and banners and provide hygiene kit to the most vulnerable households and also train families about the use of hygiene kits. The phase three of this project will be implemented in Kabul province.

CAPACITY BUILDING OF PROJECT BENEFICIARIES
During this reporting period, 481 Self-Help Group members received training on micro-finance in which they learned to fulfill their financial needs, manage lending and repayments in their SHGs, as well as get familiar with existing micro-finance institutions and their products. The training took place in Qalay Ahmad Khan, Nawabad Qalay Ahmad Khan, Baghe Koti, Tapa Panjshir villages of Bagrami district, Kabul province.
SAMARGUL'S STORY
Samargul, 46 years old is living with her husband, her two daughters, one son and her mother in law in Deh Meskin village of Bagram district, Parwan province. Her husband is a farmer and Samargul herself used to be a housewife only. She joined Hand in Hand Afghanistan’s Empowering Women in Afghanistan project in December 2018. Further reading...
