What we've been up to?

Globally, Coronavirus (COVID-19) is affecting the lives of many businesses and individuals. Throughout these unprecedented times, one thing that must remain absolutely critical is the safety of each other, the safety of our employees and the safety of the general public. 

What have we been doing here at Electrical Safety UK to help our employees and clients to maintain safety throughout this time:
  • Developing robust Safe Working Procedures for clients to incorporate the guidelines for Social distancing to avoid the further spread of COVID-19 whilst maintaining essential safety policies
  • Providing solutions to reduce the requirement for site visits so essential Arc Flash Risk Assessments can be completed
  • Providing solutions to carry out training online and via Video Conference Facilities
  • Providing online solutions for clients to assess risk within their workplaces
  • Carrying out our own formal Risk Assessment and writieing Policies to prepare for returning to the office, carrying out practical training that cannot be done online, and attending client sites.
  • Working with local charities to donate old laptops and PCs so they can get online in these difficult times.

What is an Electrical Duty Holder?

Regulation 3 of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 introduced the term ‘Duty Holder’, or more specifically ‘persons on whom duties are imposed’.

Electrical Duty Holders
A City & Guilds Assured Programme
This course is aimed at those who have been informed or those who are aware that they have a responsibility under Regulation 3 of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. The aim of this course is to introduce the role of Duty Holders under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and what this means to the individual.

The course is suitable for both electrical and non-electrical persons.
  • Competence and Authorisations
  • Contractors and Maintenance
  • Electrical Safety and Regulations
  • Health and Safety
  • Sanctions and Permits
  • At the end of the course you should be able to:
  • Identify the basic principles of electrical safety and how they are achieved
  • Discuss the key areas of legislation, who enforces them and what guidance is available
  • Identify who is a Duty Holder
  • Establish ways of keeping electrical systems safe through maintenance
  • Establish ways of keeping electrical systems safe through safe systems of work
  • Maintain safe electrical systems through the use of competent persons and the need for correct design
