Event Updates
Pinellas Chapter FNPS has suspended our regular chapter meeting and field trips for now, since our number one priority is the health and safety of our members and volunteers. We will continue to monitor and reassess the situation with hopes of resuming our programs soon. Please check our Facebook Group and website calendar for the most up-to-date information.
- Wednesday, 7/01 The presentation scheduled for our July 1st Chapter Meeting will be delivered via video conference using Zoom software, at 6:30 pm. Follow the directions at the bottom of the next article to view the presentation.

Message from the President:
Thank you to one and all who participated in the Pinellas Chapter survey! This information has provided your leadership team with very useful guidance for the future of our organization. Here is a brief summary of the results. The full results will be shared on our new website, debuting July 1st.
Who Are We?
There were 73 respondents, 62 members and 11 non-members. Roughly half of the members have been members for over three years, with the other half split between 1-3 years and less than one year. This is indicative of a growing and thriving society.
Where Do We Want to Meet?
A significant majority of the responders preferred the current meeting location at Moccasin Lake, with some showing interest in a south county location.
How Do We Want to Receive Information From the Society?
The vast majority of us preferred email over all other methods of receiving information - only 5 respondents requested Facebook and only a single respondent requested U.S. mail.
What Are Our Favorite Events?
Speakers are the most favored events with field trips second. "How-To" workshops, Birds/Insects, Florida Ecosystems, Parks/Native Preserves and Native Plant Conservation projects events are almost universally popular.
Several action items for the Board were generated by the survey. Among them are:
From the survey results, a growing minority prefer an online meeting format and we are looking into the possibility of having an online presence concurrent with our in-person meetings.
A more efficient outreach to all new members. We have begun mailing our new member packet and contacting new members to welcome them and encourage them to be active participants.
Much to our delight, many respondents indicated that they were interested in volunteering. Our volunteer coordinator and other Board members have contacted these individuals.
We are working on making some outdoor events available to our members later in the year. These will be outdoor-only, limited attendance with mask and social distancing required but should provide us with a chance to enjoy the Great Outdoors.
All-in-all, the survey was a great success and we thank you for your input.

Volunteer Opportunity - Communications
|
|
|
Our chapter currently has an opportunity for one or more volunteers to assist us with communication to our members. This  includes adding new members to our email list, producing the monthly email newsletter in Mailchimp, and the posting of events and notices on Facebook.
Volunteers should have a computer, access to the internet, basic knowledge of email and Facebook, and the ability to compose clear concise descriptions of events and chapter news. Expertise in native plants is not a requirement! The ability to manipulate images is a plus, but not required. Training is provided and the job takes no more than 2 hours a month.
