Let's Talk: About the Lessons of This Time

I intended to send out the article I sent out in a special newsletter on Monday because some people did not see it. And, as the days have gone by, I want to share a few more thoughts. First, click HERE to read what I sent on Monday.

COVID-19 has forced us out of our buildings. When that happened, it became clear that the church is not a building. We are called into the world to seek justice and shelter and security for all God's people. As I shared in my previous post, COVID-19 is but one virus in our world right now. COVID-1619 has been around for 400 years. It's not new. But the crisis of COVID-19 has allowed us to see in new ways that we must all work together. There will be a vaccine one day for COVID-19. Only we can supply the vaccine for COVID-1619.

I have been challenged a number of ways this week. One way was to spend 8 minutes and 46 seconds each day in silence. I did that for the first time yesterday. Shortly after I recorded reflections of what went through my mind during that time. I've posted it on our "Co-Creating Something New" page as I hope that the national conversation occurring through protests and in our homes and communities will invite us to a deeper conversation about the work God is calling us to do--work that must happen within ourselves as well as within our communities. The Israeli government has declared it legal to annex Palestinian land and plans to do so very soon. Palestinians in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza have suffered for decades under Israeli occupation and oppression.
Dr. Dalit Baum, Israeli-born activist, educator and director of Economic Activism Program at American Friends Service Committee, will then help us learn how to use advocacy tools to push for justice and list companies complicit in this proposed annexation. Click HERE for registration.
