*Transformative Storytelling
The times we’re living through now will become the stories we tell each other for generations to come...

Where last we lay our scene, I told you about the Story Stimulus Package. a new offering of my work based on the notion that our stories are the single most valuable tool to dig out from this moment.

One part speaking tour, one part reinvestment in my commitment to individual coaching, and one part story-based advocacy initiative, the Story Stimulus Package is my effort to connect with you and with new folks you might help the work find its way to. (Hint, hint: Please forward this email!)

Choose Your Own Adventure

Some of you have asked what does the Story Stimulus Package mean, exactly? How and where do I fit in?

It's basically like one of those old Choose Your Own Adventure books we used to read when we were kids...

  • Are you an individual ready to turn to your stories for personal and professional development? Do you want to understand yourself and your relationship to the world, and to practice reflection and discernment through organizing and (re)telling your life experiences? Perhaps you're at a life turning point, need to restart your career or even launch a new venture. We should talk about coaching.

  • Do you work for an organization that could benefit from a fresh exploration of storytelling? Do you need to grow a storytelling culture from within? Perhaps we should dive into the use of storytelling as an everyday, internal communications tool for staff and board reflection, evaluation, hiring, etc., as well as external communications and resource development. Let’s talk about bringing me in for workshops or a residency.

  • Are you part of an advocacy effort, coalition, or community organizing initiative where your goals and actions would be augmented by storytelling as an initiating factor or reflection point? You should bring me in for a multi-day residency, including my public lecture/dialogue on “The Transformative Power of Storytelling.” Or, perhaps an issue-based show with planned dialogue would be a great idea.

A Call to Story-Based Action

My point here is to proactively plan for what comes out of our stories, to use the act of storytelling as both…

  • investigator (what our stories uncover) and

  • instigator (what our stories inspire).

Let’s get started…
