Dear Sisters,

Convention messageAs we all continue to manage and navigate a world shaped by COVID-19, Theta Phi Alpha’s primary focus remains the health and well-being of our members and their loved ones. The logistical and economic obstacles caused by the pandemic, as well as its unpredictability and rapidly-changing nature, have led Grand Council to make the very difficult decision to postpone all in-person events for the 2020 National Convention in Florida until we gather again in the summer of 2022.

While we are saddened to miss this opportunity for Theta Phis from across the country to gather and celebrate our sisterhood, we are heartened by the resilience we’ve witnessed this spring. In a time of uncertainty, our collegiate and alumnae chapters have found new ways to meet, serve, and celebrate one another. The Theta Phi sisterhood has never been about a physical place or a building, but about the bonds and values we share. That is as true today as it has ever been.

Although we are not gathering in person, we must continue to focus on the bright future ahead for Theta Phi Alpha. We have great plans forming to celebrate together this summer through our new Compass Connections virtual events. We’ll set aside time to socialize, reunite, stay active, and still conduct the critical Fraternity business that normally takes place at Convention. Details and instructions will be shared in the near future.

We know you all will have many questions about what this virtual experience will include. Now that we have finalized the decision to postpone, we can begin to shape our vision for a new concept. For now, we have addressed many of your initial concerns about fees, elections, proposals, and more in our Frequently Asked Questions document.

On behalf of the Grand Council, Board of Trustees, Theta Phi Alpha Foundation and the National Office Staff, I thank you for your understanding and continued commitment to Theta Phi Alpha. We will, together, emerge even stronger in the months ahead.

Yours in the bonds of sisterhood,

Tracey Liphardt

Theta Phi Alpha National President
