THE FOREIGN MISSION MONTHLY NEWS UPDATE FOR MAY 2020

Greetings of God's Peace and Grace to each of you, Dear Readers,

It's been an interesting few months, to say the least. We, along with the whole world, have been learning how to deal individually and collectively with the COVID19 pandemic. For many, over the past months there has been much fear, economic stress, and hardship. In addition, for some hard-hit countries and cities, there has also been tragic death. Yet, even in such uncertain times and circumstances, our Lord Jesus Christ is with us. His promises to watch over and care for us in every circumstance are sure and eternal. "Fear not," our Lord says in Isaiah:41:10 (KJV), "for I am with thee; Be not dismayed, for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee, Yea, I will uphold thee: yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

With this being our hope and assurance, may our focus not be so much on our personal hardship; but may it be on our Savior, Jesus Christ, and on how we might learn and grow spiritually within this present struggle. May our focus be on each another as well; interceding for one another with all prayer, patience, love, and kindness as the Word commands and compels us to do.

Your Foreign Mission is also striving to adapt to the COVID19 restrictions and circumstances. Our pastors and missionaries may be presently restricted from travel and thus from fulfilling our larger mission mandate to personally visit, teach and minister the gospel abroad. Yet we continue to communicate, to plan, and to strive wisely and diligently to use the funds you have so lovingly provided the FM for a variety of projects and causes. This includes supplying precious Bibles for those who can't afford them via the Bible Fund and providing for much-needed medicines and medical treatments from the Emergency Medical Fund. The FM has also set up a special COVID19 Pandemic Food Fund which has helped to feed many very needy persons and families during this crisis. All these funds are administered daily for accountability, as well as to maximize effectiveness.

In the way of spiritual education, your FM administration is arranging and supporting weekly Bible studies via the Voice over Internet Protocol "Zoom" for leaders and pastors abroad. The administration is also assigning North American pastors to help in preparing and presenting educational seminars for limited-size groups of Christian leaders and pastors in countries and districts where restrictions allow for such gatherings.

Of course, all these projects and special funds are financed and made possible only by the grace-inspired benevolence of our Father's precious children. It is heartening indeed to see that even in such difficult and uncertain times, the Holy Spirit moves His children to generosity. As you read and consider the work and articles within this Foreign Mission Monthly News, please consider another way to be part of that work: the contribution of much-needed spiritual articles, thoughts, and encouragements for the Foreign Mission's Weekly Diner. It is read via the Internet by many thirsty souls throughout the world. These kinds of spiritual articles and encouragements are especially needed in this present time when many of our brothers and sisters are unable (because of pandemic restrictions) to attend prayer meetings, Bible studies, and Sunday services.

"Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen."  Jude 24-25 (KJV)

LETTERS FROM THE FIELD: KENYA

God’s peace be with you all. It is good to give God thanks.

We are in trouble during the corona virus and we are stuck indoors.
Thank you for proclaiming the Word of God and precious blood of Jesus Christ where you are. God bless you and protect you all from danger during the corona virus pandemic. We are praying and fasting for you, always.

Please send us teachings to comfort us and to grow spiritually. We are together to share the love of Jesus Christ. We respect you and your teachings of Jesus and to be strong in the Lord.

God bless you,

 John Ombogo

God's peace be with you,

Thank you for your good prayers and good teachings. Send more teachings as well if you can, this is a good time for them. We are suffering because of the corona virus.
We have no food and we must remain indoors.
God bless you.

In Christ,

Yoves
REPORTS FROM THE FIELD: THE FOOD PROGRAM

Note: Worldwide we have distributed over 34,000 meals in the last two months!  God is good!  Thank you to all donors to that program!

India
Rice was packed into bags and distributed to 100 people: widows and the destitute.
We also served them tea with cookies. We tried to maintain social distancing throughout.
They are so thankful for your help. Thank you, FM.
Kenya
God’s peace and blessings to you.
I hope it will be of some interest to know the breakdown of the food funds you sent us...
We still owe our gratitude to all that gave their generous help and support to our ministry. Say a big thank you to all who stood with us both prayerfully and financially, denying themselves to help our people.

-Pastor Timothy

Left: Buying the corn.
Right: Distributing packages to the people.
Guatemala
Left: A few of the many people that came walking home with the latest round of food provided in Guatemala!

Right: A special, loving donation by a group that occasionally goes to Guatemala. We can provide about twenty families with a much-needed corn grinder like the one pictured. With this tool, they can grind kernels to make flour for use in their tortillas and other foods.
Togo
By God's grace, we have been able to reach out to some members after difficult travel to other congregations. Cities are shut down tightly and no travel between cities is permitted to avoid contamination with the virus.
We were able to distribute corn, rice, masks, and provide advice during the pandemic.

-Pastor Devigan
CHRISTIANS HELPING ONE ANOTHER

Your contributions to the Emergency Medical Fund have assisted in the following this month:
  • Help for a pastor in Africa with a badly injured arm and internal bleeding issues.
  • Aid for a girl in Africa with Leukemia.
  • Medication for a pastor’s wife in Togo with Shingles.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS AND EVENTS

* We are still sending Bible funds out as often as possible. Under stay at home orders in most countries, these programs have slowed, but we will continue as soon as we're allowed.

* Repeat Item: We are excited about our new, recently completed website! Check it out here!  The web address is the same as before: www.themissionsite.com.

*New volunteers are coming forward to help the Foreign Mission. For this we are so thankful!
PRAISE AND PRAYER AND UPCOMING EVENTS

*  We have plans for trips as soon as the virus restrictions let up and things are safe!

*  Please be in prayer for our full-time missionaries in the field, as well as those that we know and love around the world who labor so faithfully in the Church. Curfews and restrictions make everyday life for a missionary so much harder.
"O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever."
(Psalm 107:1 KJV)

Upcoming Trips

Would you like to join us?

Most of our trips are on hold right now
for obvious reasons. Check back
here in the coming months.

Please pray for God to send
laborers for trips in the future,
if it be His will that we go
.

Church Building Fund: We have a small, specially donated church completion fund set up. So far, several church roofs have been completed. The FM believes it best for the local congregations to put their own prayers, sweat, and treasure into their own church so that each congregant takes personal interest in the church. We do, however, enjoy helping such congregations finish their building-- hence the fund. We have many current needs for church buildings!

Emergency Medical Fund:  This fund is very helpful when we have a pastor, his family, or a church member suffering with a disease that can often be cured with just a small amount of money. Hospitals in most countries will not medically assist anyone unless money is paid up-front. Prayerfully, God has and will continue to use this fund to save lives and restore the health of those in need.

Poor Family Fund: Help in situations where a family is not able to feed, educate, or otherwise support their children due to death, injury, sickness, or poverty. Each situation is closely monitored.

The Bible Fund: We get many requests for Bibles. It is such a blessing to give the WORD of LIFE!
