Volunteering Update
Charities and community organisations are adapting their projects in order to keep service users, volunteers and staff safe and well. In these difficult times help is still needed. The volunteer roles on our database are being updated everyday so do take a look to find out more.

Croydon Voluntary Action (CVA) are looking for volunteers to offer support and friendship to people who are trying to move forwards with their lives and to reach their full potential. Could you help?
Young Person Mentor
The young people in need of support will each have their own experiences but all will be aged between 16-25 and will have received intensive support from a Croydon based housing charity. We are looking for Mentors who can take time to have a chat on a weekly basis to provide support as young people take their place in the world of work and deal with new challenges and responsibilities.

Buddy supporting someone with Learning Disabilities
As a Volunteer Buddy, you will provide support to individuals with Learning Disabilities as they try to continue to take part in a variety of activities. This projects aims to help people take part remotely in a variety of activities (not just those designed for people with Learning Disabilities) and to support people to take steps back out into the community safely.

New Routes Mentor
As a New Routes Mentor, you will provide guidance and support to individuals that are in the process of turning their lives around.
The individuals in need of support come from all walks of life however, either alcohol or drugs have played a part in impacting their well-being.

CVA's Appropriate Adult Volunteers (AAVs) have continued to offer support to people detained in police custody though-out the Covid 19 crisis. Their role is to support, advise and assist young people or vulnerable adults while in detention and police interview, to ensure that they understand their rights, to observe whether the police are acting fairly and to assist with communication between the detained person and the police. The AAV team insure there is cover 7 days a week from 8am until 11pm by committing to shifts at least twice a month. Could you join this team?

Croydon Champion
CVA is working with the town centre to provide a welcoming experience as lockdown eases and we are looking for volunteers who can assist.
As a Croydon Champion your role would be to:
- Provide a warm and friendly welcome to all those using the town centre
- Provide information, advice, give direction for those using the town centre under social distancing guidelines
- Provide reassurance to all those that require it in and around the town centre
- Provide clear and direct instructions to those that require support with social distancing.
Shifts are 10 -1 and 1- 4 pm Tuesday to Saturday.
So if you have
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good communication
- Good local knowledge of the area
- An outgoing personality with a desire for delivering a quality service ·
- Stamina, Flexibility, Common Sense and a good sense of humour
