Community performances included Nuit Blanche, Moving Inspirations Dance Festival, and Dance Blitz.
Modulations was created for the opening ceremony of Nuit Blanche and presented by Culture Days on September 29, 2019. This outdoor, site specific work, was performed within the interactive installation work, Cycle, by Serge Maheu. Modulations featured dancers, Carol-Ann Bohrn and Warren McClelland, and choreography by Jolene Bailie.
Last Schema, featured seven dancers, and was presented at NAfro Dance Productions’ Moving Inspirations Dance Festival on February 29, 2020, at The Gas Station Arts Centre. This work included performances by: Emma Beech, Carol-Ann Bohrn, Shawn Maclaine, Warren McClelland, Aaron Paul, Trevor Pick, and Camila Schujman, in choreography by Jolene Bailie.
WCD participated in the virtual performance, Dance Blitz, presented by Mile Zero Dance (Edmonton) on April 29, 2020. WCD’s International Dance Day video was included in this virtual performance via Zoom.

In the 2019-2020 season, WCD provided a significant increase in professional development opportunities for professional dancers.
2019-2020 highlight’s included: WCD’s Summer Workshop and 50 Professional Development Classes for professional dancers.
In the 2019-2020 season, WCD offered classes led by: Jolene Bailie, Paula Blair, Marc Boivin, Melanie Demers, Léa Noblet Di Ziranaldi, Freya Olafson, Johanna Riley, Ali Robson, and Jera Wolfe, with accompanists: Ian Mikita, Tim Church, and David Schneider.
In addition, WCD partnered with Young Lungs Dance Exchange and Company Link to present one week of Fighting Monkey technique classes with Guest Artist, Alanna Kraaijeveld.
For the third season in a row, WCD presented events in conjunction with First Fridays in the Exchange.
First Friday participating artists included: Zorya Arrow, Jolene Bailie, Emma Beech, Julious Gamablan, Alexandra Garrido, Ming Hon, D-Anne Kuby, Hélène Le Moullec Mancini, Shawn Maclaine, Warren McClelland, Aaron Paul, Sam Penner, Arlo Reva, Camila Schujman, Emily Solstice, and Natasha Torres-Garner.
WCD presented post show Artist Talks in conjunction with the shows, ACTUALIZE and Animal Triste. Special thanks to visual artist, Derek Brueckner, for moderating our Artist Talk for Animal Triste.
WCD's Emerging Artist Initiative ran from August 27-October 25, 2019. This initiative featured: training, a rehearsal process, and coaching for six emerging dancers, culminating in the sold out performance, Calibrations of Flux, on October 25, 2019, at The Rachel Browne Theatre.
The performance featured five short works by Artistic Director, Jolene Bailie. Dancers included: Julious Gambalan, Shayla Rudd, Fiona Witherell, Sharazade Vahid, Emily Solstice, and Anastasiya Yevsigneeva. This project was in partnership with The School of Contemporary Dancers.
WCD is among many artists all over the world to have their programming altered, suspended, and/or cancelled due to COVID-19.

2020 International Dance Day Greeting!
We are now taking theatre bookings for the 2020-2021 season.
The Rachel Browne Theatre is available to rent for dance, theatre and music performances, as well as workshops, lectures, classes, and fundraisers.
Please note: WCD continues to follow government recommendations and as a result, our facility is closed to the public. Restrictions on live performance events may be lifted by September 2020.
While WCD’s in studio activities continue to be suspended due to COVID-19, we continue to work for the most stable future possible for WCD and our beloved Rachel Browne Theatre.
Artistic Director, Jolene Bailie, and Administrator, Iryna Kravchencko, have dived deep into grant proposals and WCD applied to the Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy.
