Hudson Market 2020 — Week 18
View this email in your browser
We've got ripe strawberries, tart rhubarb, snappy peas, crisp lettuce, zippy radishes, rustic breads, delicate pastries, plump pies, potent spirits, hot coffee, pressed juices, creamy cheeses, tangy yogurt, hearty meat, tender fish, nutritious eggs, magical honey, earthy mushrooms, crunchy pickles, complex sauces, necessary transplants, and (if you can even imagine!) MORE.
DOWN TO BUSINESS:

1:
Many of our vendors are offering pre-order pickups through their websites and social media pages. THIS is your best way to secure what you want at market AND grab-n-go.

2: We encourage our OLDER and IMMUNE-COMPROMISED customers to shop with us during the morning hours. 9AM and 10AM is our SLOWEST time-- this is when we think it would be safest for you!

3: Almost ALL OF YOU are doing your part to help us be a SAFE SPACE for our community (attention outliers: you really need to wear masks when you come shopping; if too much of this happens WE have to answer to the CITY and possibly face shutdown)

4: The newsletter will mostly be devoted to reminding you of the PRECAUTIONS and PROTOCOLS we MUST follow in order to continue operating. We will be sneaking in some extra special info from time to time about what you can find weekly from various vendors and recipes we love!

5: SNAP/EBT is back! Head over to the Scarecrow Farm tent to use the machine.
MARKET ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The Cidermakers will be back this week! Grab a bottle of their English-style dry hard cider-- throw it on ice, pop the bottle, and enjoy a glass during the quiet of these late spring evenings. This cider is made with a blend of delicious cider and eating apples, so what you'll get is a balanced and refreshing drink that is crisp with a good body.
Now that the weather is cooperating with our farmers, you will be able to find a ton of delicious veggies regularly at market-- Blue Star Farm, Red Oak Farm, Scarecrow Farm, Farm at Miller's Crossings, Martin Farm, and Bonhomie Farm will be your stops. We'll be honest-- it's worth it to come to the market early because most of our veg vendors are selling out each week. They want to provide you with the freshest and most nutritious produce WHILE keeping up with demand
Have you stopped by Cedar Flower Farm lately? Their tables are filled with so many flowers each week that it really looks like they've brought their entire garden to the market! Keep an eye out for peonies and lily of the valleys-- the perfectly iconic spring-into-early-summer flowers.
Churchtown Gardens will have a variety of fruit filled pies and savory pot pies this weekend! They are also accepting and encouraging pre-order pickups. So head over to the stand, take a looks at what is there, ask a few questions, and reserve your sweets.
So along with Billy's Italian Market's incredible tomato sauces and freshly dried organic pasta, they ALSO have Maplebrook Farm's cheese. This is a super smart addition to their offerings-- literally making them a one-stop-shop for your Sunday supper! We suggest grabbing a jar of their marinara, a box of Sfoglini, and a container of burrata-- you will thank us, we promise!
BIG FIY this week: if you're suffering from allergies right now, head over to Scarecrow Farm to grab a jar of their helpful honey! It's common wisdom that if you consume local honey you are also consuming the pollen from the trees/weeds that the bees visit, therefore it may help you to be less reactive to seasonal shifts and blooms. A few of us have had success-- but if it doesn't work for you it still tastes delicious and is full of antioxidants.
LOCATIONS and TIME:

Market is now operating in TWO SPOTS-- the municipal lot at 6th and Columbia Street AND the metered lot behind St Johns Church (just a bit down the block). Hours are 9AM to 1PM! Reminder: you can line up before 9AM, but we can't start selling until then.
Vendors at the 6th and Columbia St location: Blue Star Farm, Martin Farm, Northern Star Farm, Samascott's Orchard, and Ardith Mae

Vendors at the St Johns lot: Happy Belly, Bonhomie Farm, Red Oak Farm, Rock N Raw, Berkshire Mountain Distillery, Trixie's Oven, Spacey Tracy's Pickles, Sparrowbush Farm, Cedar Flower Farm, Scarecrow Farm, Hudson Roasters, Churchtown Gardens, Township Valley, Berkshire Mountain Bakery, Raven and Boar, Farm at Miller's Crossing, Hillrock Distillery, Pura Vida, and Billy's Italian Market!

PLUS Chaseholm Farm and Letterbox Farm will be operating under the same tent AND Highland Farm and The Cidermakers will be alternating weeks (this week is Cidermakers)
PRECAUTIONS and PROTOCOLS:
We are requiring each vendor to wear gloves and a mask–– plus they will have bottles of hand sanitizer available for use at their stands. We will have a handwashing station at the market (with instructions).

We are spreading vendors between two spots in response to social distancing requirements.

We are encouraging you to continue coming to the market, but make your shopping as efficient as possible. Remember: GRAB and GO! We love you and we understand that the market is social time, but if we don't enforce this WE WILL BE SHUT DOWN. Please help us out by heading home as soon as you're done!

Please remember to wear your mask and use your sanitizer when shopping.

Please ask vendors for help with their product and be patient with the lines.

Above all, if you're feeling sick please stay home-- have someone else do your shopping!
Be safe and attentive THIS Saturday! And please, remember to bring your reusable bags  ❤❤
