"Developing a passion for Christ by equipping disciples & reaching the lost."
This week as we gather for worship on Sunday, we will recognize our graduating seniors during the service. What an amazing opportunity to celebrate the work of Christ in the lives of our students and families. For the class of 2020, this has been an incredibly hard Spring in the midst of a seemingly endless Spring Break. Amidst all of the cancellations, there have been online classes, drive thru ceremonies, and virtual prom.
When I think of my high school graduation, I remember the people who supported me over some of the hardest years of my life. Prom, graduation ceremonies, and senior skip days remain only in pictures but I can tell you the names of many of the people who shaped my thinking, prayed for me, and encouraged me to pursue my passions. These godly men and women showed me the love of Jesus when I needed it most. As we sit in the tension of the now and the not yet, we are restless.
Sunday we have an opportunity to rally behind the class of 2020 who will be remembered as one of the most adaptable & enduring classes who pushed through when the world hit pause. They are the church and we rally behind them because they carry the gospel with them as they journey into some of the darkest corners of the world. Isaiah 57:7 reminds us, "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” May it be true of Redeemer Church that we rejoiced as our young men and women dreamed big dreams for the sake of the gospel to our neighbors and the nations. If you are able, here are the names of our 2020 graduates for prayer, notes of encouragement, or a phone call just because.
