Our Journey To
The Holy Holiday of Shavuot
|
|
Light your faith.♡ A day of glory.
Seven weeks have past since Passover Eve.
Counting of the O'mer has brought us to a day of glory -- Shavuot. On this Holiday, Am Yisrael celebrates the revelation of the Ten Commandments by God to Moses and to the people of Israel at Mount Sinai.
A journey to the sanctuary.
Shavuot takes us back thousands of years ago to the days of the Twelve Tribes, to Jerusalem, to the time of the year when the harvest is being collected in the Land of Eretz Yisrael, and to our covenant with God and the Torah. For generations, during the holiday of Shavuot, our tribe Am Yisrael journeyed from all over Israel in search of a connection with the Divine, to joyfully celebrate life, give thanks to Mother Earth, and worship God.
וְחַג שָׁבֻעוֹת תַּעֲשֶׂה לְךָ בִּכּוּרֵי קְצִיר חִטִּים
Harvest from all around the country was brought to the Temple to worship and give thanks to our God in a celebration of praying, singing, dancing, and rejoicing. The gift offering, Bikkurim is a Biblical sacrifice that was brought to the Temple consisting of the Seven Species for which the Land of Israel is praised: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates.
They symbolizes our will to strengthen the covenant between the Shekinah and Earth, the Children of Israel with the Holy Land of Israel, and to our faith and Lord.
