Dear <<First Name>>,

Yesterday (28th May), the Prime Minster announced that groups of up to six people will be able to meet outdoors in England from Monday 1 June, provided that strict social distancing guidelines are followed. I welcome the easing of the restrictions in a safe and measured way. Here is a link to the Prime Minister’s statement for more information: pm-press-conference-statement. Next week I shall be returning to Parliament to ensure that you, the people of Broxtowe, continue to be represented and I will be back in Broxtowe on Friday.

The new NHS Test and Trace service is being launched across England - helping us to keep the virus under control while carefully and safely lifting the lockdown nationally. I had a virtual meeting with Nadine Dorries MP, who is the Minister for Mental Health, Suicide Prevention and Patient Safety, about the rollout of the NHS Test and Trace service within Broxtowe. You can read more about the NHS Test and Trace service on my website: darrenhenry.org.uk/news/nhs-test-and-trace-service-launches.

The ‘Access to Toton’ transport plan by Midlands Connect has been published, which is an ambitious plan for our area. I appreciate that many of you may have legitimate concerns about HS2 as there are impassioned arguments on both sides. I will work hard to mitigate local resident concerns. I believe that HS2 will increase the opportunities that are brought to Broxtowe - especially with the East Midlands Hub being in our very own Toton. HS2 will form the backbone of the UK’s transport network, enabling a productivity boost in the East Midlands. Crucially it will help to spread prosperity more evenly across the country. Here is a link to Midlands Connect’s plan: www.darrenhenry.org.uk/transport-access-plan-revealed.

I had a meeting with Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group and Alex Ball chaired the meeting. I was pleased to hear that Boots are conducting 500 Antibody tests a day and that a single operating model is intended for care homes under a single pathway.

I had a virtual meeting yesterday (28th May) with Broxtowe Women’s Project. They are a small charity who has offered support and advice for people suffering domestic abuse in the Broxtowe area for 20 years. They originally provided their services in the North of Broxtowe and now are providing support across all of Broxtowe. Crisis help for domestic abuse is always referred to commissioned services e.g. police, health and social services; however, Broxtowe Women’s Project can offer sustained support for up to 2 years, so are different to the commissioned services. I will be championing their cause in Parliament in the days, weeks and months ahead, and I shall be asking questions to the relevant Ministers in due course to ensure that their projects continue.

This evening I am doing a Q&A with Campaign Force, which was founded by Jonny Ball. Their mission is to encourage veterans to serve again in public life. This is non-party political, and the main aim of the event is to inspire those who have served, to stand up, and serve again. You can find out more about Campaign Force here: https://campaignforce.co.uk.

Stay safe, look after yourselves, your loved ones, and the members of our community.
