Reminder to Vote to Admit Three New Libraries to SWAN

The SWAN Board recommends the admission of Glenside, Roselle, and Warrenville Public Library Districts for SWAN Full Membership. SWAN ByLaws "Article IX - Members and membership" require 2/3 membership approval for admission. The online ballot will remain open until the threshold is met or the vote to admit does not succeed. The libraries would become full members of SWAN in December 2020 and begin paying membership dues in January 2021.

The written impact study can be found online which provides background, financial benefit to all libraries, and project timeline.

SWAN "Poolside" Chats, Tuesday 6/9 & 6/23 at 11 A.M.

Starting in June we will switch to bi-weekly "poolside chats" to replace the fireside chats. The online meetings will continue to be the primary means of updating everyone as we transition through the COVID-19 pandemic.

You can access prior weekly chat recordings and notes on the SWAN support site.

Quarterly Meeting, Thurs 6/4 10 A.M.

This meeting is geared towards library directors and administrators. The agenda is now available online. We are looking for library directors and administrators to share and have discussion at this meeting. Topcis include:
  • Experience with curbside
  • Providing home delivery
  • Libraries reopening to the public
Information on attending the online GoToMeeting is located on the agenda or can be joined by clicking on this link (we ask you only join 10 minutes prior to the meeting time).

L2 System Replacement in August

RAILS is targeting a launch of the new L2 site librarylearning.org in mid-August. All changes in the current L2 will be frozen as of late in the day on July 31, in preparation for our final migration and go-live. What does this mean for you? After July 31:
  • Events will still be visible, but SWAN cannot make changes
  • No one will be able to register for events. We will provide some alternate registration method.
  • Events from the old L2 site will not be migrated. Future events that are already in L2 will need to be manually re-entered into the new L2.
  • Library directory entries will be visible, but will not be editable.
This is a big transition and we wish RAILS luck with the launch of the new L2 platform.
