With residents staying in during the COVID-19 pandemic, here are some ways you can help the environment from your home:
  • Continue to reduce, reuse and recycle items properly. If you aren’t sure what goes where, download the Recycle Coach App to your mobile device or use the online website application at newmarket.ca/wasteandrecycling
    • Properly disposing items will help save energy, reduce deforestation and minimize greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Save energy by turning off lights when you leave the room.
  • When washing your hands, turn off the tap when lathering your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.
  • Remember, masks, wipes and gloves belong in the garbage. Please do not litter these items.
  • Keep blue box materials from blowing away when its windy by placing heavier recyclable items (i.e. glass bottles/jars) and lighter items (i.e. plastic containers) at the bottom of your blue box.
