Dear Fellow Teachers and Teaching Artists,
I hope this email finds you all well, safe, and (somewhat) sane as the school year winds down and summer thankfully approaches. I'm reaching out with a couple of new virtual, (non-CYS) opportunities that I thought might be of interest to you and your students:
The first opportunity is an online Shakespeare seminar for high school teachers, led by Louis Fantasia of The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles. The two-day virtual workshop will be held on July 10th and 11th, and will focus on King Lear. To learn more, visit: https://www.shakespearecenter.org/the-shakespeare-institute
The second opportunity is a new, 3-week-long, remote summer theatre program for high school students launched by our friends at The Cartographers Theatre. More information on that program can be found here: https://sites.google.com/view/thecartographers/home.
As for upcoming Chicago Youth Shakespeare classes and events, our recently-announced (Short) Summer Shakes class is currently full. However, if you have students (grades 9-12) who might be interested, they can learn more and add their names to the waitlist here, as we may open up a second session! CYS is also working on a new (virtual) Shakespeare reading of Romeo and Juliet featuring CYS youth artists alongside some truly epic professional actors. Stay tuned for a big announcement about our virtual R&J Project premiere; and as always, please don't hesitate to reach out with questions, thoughts, or just to say hi!
Wishing you all a safe, happy, and (somewhat) sane summer!
