What we're reading this week

Miranda: In an effort to further combat viral misinformation, Facebook will begin requiring pages with viral posts to verify their identity and location.

Josh: It’s my favorite time of the year! The
2020 Stack Overflow Developer Survey results are finally in and they're pretty interesting.

   Paola: Using
technology to help curb the pandemic doesn't come without a price.

Kay: More than a million (!) people come online for the first time every day. Many are from rural areas and will use their phones to connect.
Designing for Digital Confidence provides research and tools to build technology that’s accessible to everyone, regardless of gender, geography, language, device type, or education level.

  Ben:
Google is dropping the AMP requirement for webpages to appear in the "Top Stories" section of search results on mobile, and is now focusing instead on Core Web Vitals performance metrics. Of course, if you already have an AMP site, they won't kick you out, but if your non-AMP performance is good enough, you may no longer need AMP.

  Inndy: I feel you.
